Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of customized allogeneic bone block (CABB) compared with autogenous bone block (ABB) for ridge augmentation. The results showed that the use of CABBs resulted in more horizontal bone gain and less horizontal bone resorption at 1 mm below the alveolar ridge crest compared with ABBs.

Summary: This Korean prospective cohort study found that decreasing waist circumference and lean muscle mass loss were significant risk factors for hip bone loss in both men and women. Other factors may have sex-specific or age-specific effects on hip bone loss. None of the genetic factors tested were associated with hip bone loss after multiple testing adjustments, indicating that modifiable factors may play a larger role in determining bone health.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the dose-dependent effects of blackcurrant supplementation on preventing bone loss in adult women. The results showed that blackcurrant supplementation decreased the loss of whole-body bone mineral density and increased the marker of bone formation, P1NP. Further studies with larger samples and different skeletal conditions are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The present study aimed to assess the effect of soft tissue augmentation before horizontal alveolar ridge augmentation on the outcomes of the bone augmentation procedure. Sixteen patients underwent horizontal alveolar ridge augmentation using autogenous bone. Soft tissue expanders were used in a separate surgery before bone grafting surgery for the test group. After 6 months, there was no statistically significant difference in the bucco-palatal radiographical changes in alveolar ridge width between the two groups, but the soft tissue expander may have a positive effect on the quality of augmented bone.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate hard and soft tissues around implants in the posterior mandible 1 year after vertical ridge augmentation. The results showed that the GBR treatment with titanium meshes plus collagen membranes did not have significant differences in peri-implant bone level change compared to reinforced PTFE membranes. Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in alveolar bone crest (ABC) levels and differences in resorption rates (RR) between two different grafting materials for a period of 3 years after alveolar ridge preservation (ARP). The results showed that both groups achieved and maintained increased ABC levels throughout the 1-3 years of clinical function, and no failures or adverse events were observed.

Summary: This study evaluated the increase in salivary lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels in patients with oral cancer (OC) or oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) compared to a healthy control group (CG). Results showed that LDH levels were higher in the OC group and patients with oral leucoplakia and oral submucous fibrosis also had higher levels. Salivary LDH determination may be a useful method for screening and tracking OC and OPMD, but further studies are needed to establish precise cutoff values.

Summary: This article introduces a new digital workflow for image-guided implant placement after partial extraction therapy. The technique utilizes digital 3D images to plan and orient the flapless surgical procedure and digitally design a custom abutment based on the natural emergence profile of the tooth to be extracted. This technique helps maintain the structure of peri-implant tissues to prevent aesthetic compromise in the anterior maxilla.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence technology to detect periapical lesions that dentists could fail to notice on panoramic radiographs. By annotating and classifying 18618 periapical root areas on 713 panoramic radiographs, a two-stage convolutional neural network model was trained. The model, consisting of a detector and a classifier, successfully localized and classified periapical lesions with an accuracy of 84.6%, sensitivity of 72.2%, and specificity of 85.6%.

Summary: This scoping review systematically maps the evidence supporting chronotherapy in dentistry and identifies knowledge gaps. It found that chrono-radiotherapy and chrono-chemotherapy can reduce treatment side effects and improve therapeutic response in cancer patients, leading to higher survival rates. Animal studies suggest that tooth movement and periodontal tissue response to orthodontic forces follow a diurnal rhythm that may impact bone metabolism. Profound and prolonged local anesthesia can be achieved when injected in the evening. Although the overall quality of the included studies was low, chronotherapy applications in dentistry appear to have favorable outcomes, especially in head and neck cancer treatments.

Summary: The evidence on patient-reported outcomes and clinical performance of digitally fabricated RPDs compared to conventionally fabricated dentures is limited. Some studies suggest that digitally fabricated RPDs are associated with higher patient satisfaction, while others indicate that conventionally fabricated RPDs have better framework fit accuracy. Overall, both digitally and conventionally fabricated metal RPD frameworks showed clinically acceptable fit.

Summary: The aim of this report is to present a case of chondroblastic osteosarcoma located in the right maxillary premolar region of a 17-year-old female patient. Different imaging techniques, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), medical computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), were used to diagnose and assess the extent of the tumor. Early diagnosis using 3-dimensional imaging can improve the prognosis of chondroblastic osteosarcoma.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the time-dependent administration of ibuprofen in a lower third molar extraction model. The results showed that there were no significant differences in postoperative swelling and pain perception between the control group, which took ibuprofen every 8 hours, and the experimental group, which took ibuprofen only at breakfast and lunch and replaced dinner intake with a placebo. However, trismus was significantly higher in the experimental group at 72 hours postoperatively.
