Summary: The serum protein BChE interacts with various other proteins in human blood, particularly those related to lipid metabolism such as high-density lipoprotein. A two-step strategy involving size-exclusion and affinity chromatography, as well as mass spectrometry, is effective in identifying and isolating these complexes for further analysis. Reduced BChE plasma activity is observed in individuals with severely reduced HDL levels, indicating a potential link between BChE interactions and lipid metabolism disorders.

Summary: This study investigated the use of recombinant HDL particles in a severe COVID-19 patient. The results showed that recombinant HDL increased ApoA1 abundance, increased the proportion of large HDL particles, and decreased the abundance of inflammatory proteins. Levels of inflammatory markers and cytokines also decreased during recombinant HDL infusion. Therefore, recombinant HDL infusion may be a potential therapeutic strategy for COVID-19 patients.

Summary: The benefits of elevated high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels are challenged by U-shaped relations with all-cause mortality. The association with cause-specific mortality is less studied. Higher HDL-C levels were associated with increased mortality risk for several diseases, which have also been associated with heavy drinking.

Summary: Impaired HDL function and composition are associated with the severity and outcome of acute ischemic stroke. Changes in cholesterol efflux capacity, phospholipid levels, lecithin:cholesterol acyl transferase (LCAT)-phospholipase activity, and serum amyloid A1 (SAA1) content of HDL could serve as biomarkers for risk stratification and management strategies in stroke patients.

Summary: A high-fat/high-cholesterol diet increases serum levels of apoE-rich HDL, while a high-cholesterol diet does not. This study investigates the effects of dietary fat and cholesterol on gene expression and HDL production. The results suggest that increased apoE-rich HDL induced by fat and cholesterol may be mediated by increased ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux from the liver.

Summary: The paper presents the preparation and characterization of a new HILIC material for the enrichment of N-linked glycopeptides. The material was prepared using specific monomer and cross-linker, and by fine-tuning the polymer properties, it displayed superior performance in terms of the number of enriched glycopeptides and selectivity. These results not only provide a new HILIC material for glycopeptide enrichment but also pave the way for the use of hydrogel materials in this field.
