Summary: This paper introduces a new approach for selecting a common projection direction for performance evaluation of decision-making units using DEA directional distance function. By defining the concept of directional extensibility and proposing a model to identify the common projection direction with maximum directional extensibility, the paper addresses the issue of zero elements in the common projection direction. An algorithm is developed to strike a balance between directional extensibility and element similarity in selecting the final common projection direction.

Summary: This paper proposes two novel machine learning algorithms to improve the automatic target recognition system for unmanned aerial vehicles. These models make use of the stochastic procedure of Random Forests and employ the novel Random Vector Functional Link Tree or Extreme Learning Tree for decision split. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms outperform other state-of-the-art ensemble learning techniques in terms of predictive performance and computational complexity.

Summary: This study investigated the enzymatic hydrolysis kinetics of micellar milk caseins for 9 hours, finding that 5 hours is the optimal time to obtain hydrolysates with desirable sensory qualities. A total of 22 peptides formed during the enzymatic proteolysis of micellar caseins were identified as having the greatest influence on bitterness, providing simple and efficient tools to predict the sensory characteristics of micellar casein enzymatic hydrolysates.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimal regression tree model based on a continuous optimization problem, which aims to strike a balance between prediction accuracy and sparsity. The model can fulfill important properties for regression tasks and provide local explanations due to the smoothness of predictions. The computational experience demonstrates the superiority of this approach in terms of prediction accuracy compared to standard benchmark regression methods, and the scalability with respect to sample size is also illustrated.
