Summary: This study examines the influence of positive contamination factors involved in collaborative consumption (CC) of fashion items and reveals that consumers preferred to purchase items from an attractive or racially similar seller over an unattractive or racially dissimilar seller. The study also found that contamination perceptions were lower for items associated with an attractive or racially similar seller. These findings have meaningful implications for practitioners in the sharing economy on alleviating consumers' concerns about contamination.

Summary: Collaborative consumption refers to exchanges between individuals through an internet platform. This study examines the factors influencing trust decisions in a complex triadic relationship involving a seller, a digital platform, and a buyer. The research shows that the interchangeability of buyers affects trust decisions, particularly for those who have experience as sellers. Trust decisions for interchangeable buyers are primarily based on credibility and benevolence beliefs rather than reputational cues. The findings also reveal a hierarchy of trust or transfer effect from trust in the platform to trust in the sharing partner.

Summary: The rapid growth of the demand-side, platform-based collaborative economy has been a significant aspect of everyday life for over a decade. However, confusion arises from the interchangeable use of descriptions and names attributed to this economy, leading to a need for clearer classification criteria. This study aims to provide a clearer taxonomy of the collaborative economy's multiple forms and has both theoretical and practical implications for managers and policymakers.

Summary: This study investigates consignment contracts with revenue-sharing for selling virtual products subject to information asymmetry. It shows that developers have no incentive to voluntarily disclose private information, and proposes methods such as designing a revelation mechanism via a menu of contracts. The analysis finds that the menu of contracts is more supportive of small businesses and can significantly improve the distribution platform's expected profit.

Summary: This paper explores the impact of altruistic behaviors of a newsvendor in a two-echelon supply chain on the upstream manufacturer and the system performance. It finds that altruistic behavior of a risk-neutral or risk-seeking newsvendor benefits the manufacturer and the supply chain, while altruistic behavior of a risk-averse newsvendor harms them. The study also shows that the altruistic behavior of the manufacturer can increase the expected profit of the whole supply chain.

Summary: Dual-channel e-commerce retailers commonly offer return freight insurance (RFI) to resolve disputes regarding product returns, but not all retailers provide it. By building consumer-utility-based analytical models, we find that retailers who purchase RFI for consumers do not necessarily charge higher prices. The study highlights the importance of the RFI premium and its impact on consumer surplus and social welfare.

Summary: Blockchain technology has been widely applied in various industries, including remanufacturing. This paper explores the combination of remanufacturing and blockchain and proposes a supply chain model involving a manufacturer, a third-party firm, and an online platform. Through a game analysis, it is found that the optimal production quantities and collection rates increase with the allocated cap and platform-enabled power. Additionally, the adoption of blockchain depends on the emissions intensity.

Summary: In global supply chains, 3PL services play a crucial role in assisting supply chain agents with distribution tasks, allowing them to focus on product development and manufacturing. However, current supply chains face inadequacies that impact the effectiveness of 3PL, leading to the need for digital transformation. Digitization improves supply chain performance through enhanced information sharing and visibility, but raises challenges in cybersecurity and data quality. Blockchain technology offers solutions with its high security and distribution features. This paper examines the challenges and potential of using blockchain in 3PL, based on literature and interviews with innovation/project managers from established logistics companies.

Summary: Third-party food delivery operations are popular in the digital era, but achieving sustainable operation is a challenge. This study conducts a literature review to identify how to achieve sustainable operation and highlights recent advances in this area through real-world practices. The review classifies prior studies into economic, social, environmental, and multi-dimensional sustainability. Three research gaps are identified, such as inadequate investigation on restaurant preferences and decisions, limited understanding of environmental performance, and insufficient examination of multi-dimensional sustainability. Five future areas for in-depth investigation are proposed based on the literature and observed practices, including digital technology applications, restaurant behaviors and decisions, risk management, triple bottom line perspective, and post-pandemic considerations.

Summary: This study uses game-theoretical models to investigate how firms should adjust their trade-in strategies in response to the emergence of resale platforms. The study finds that the trade-in-for-upgrade (TU) mode encourages consumer repurchases, while the trade-in-for-upgrade-and-cash (TUC) mode has a greater promotion effect on consumers' first purchases. The presence of a resale platform does not affect the amount of the trade-in rebate in the TUC mode, but in the TU mode, the firm should provide a more generous trade-in rebate depending on the unit product cost. The firm should choose the TU mode to take advantage of the platform's promotion effect if the unit product cost is high and choose the TUC mode to avoid the platform's cannibalization effect if the unit product cost is low.

Summary: Trade-in promotions are recognized as effective strategies in retail operations to boost sales. This study examines the impact of brand loyalty on exclusive and nonexclusive trade-in programs and finds that an exclusive trade-in program effectively retains consumers when brand loyalty is weak, while a nonexclusive trade-in program is more likely to attract competitors' consumers. An exclusive trade-in program is the dominant strategy for both firms compared to no trade-in, but a nonexclusive program is better when brand loyalty is strong.

Summary: Social comparisons during the purchase of public products can affect firms' pricing, quality, and product-line strategies. Greater social-comparison benefit reduces price competition and increases profits, while higher social-comparison cost intensifies price competition and decreases profits. Product quality differences and product-line extension strategies are also influenced by social comparisons.
