Summary: This study aimed to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of laparoscopic myomectomy for uterine fibroids. The findings showed that compared to open surgery, laparoscopic myomectomy reduced intraoperative bleeding, shortened operation time and hospital stay, and lowered the incidence of postoperative complications. It also resulted in better clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the perioperative and reproductive outcomes of mini-laparotomy (MLPT) and laparoscopic (LPS) myomectomy. A systematic search of relevant articles yielded nine studies involving 1723 patients. The results showed that LPS had shorter hospital stay, lower blood loss, shorter duration of ileus, and fewer episodes of postoperative fever compared to MLPT. However, there was no significant difference in reproductive outcomes. In conclusion, LPS seems to be a safe and reliable surgical procedure for uterine leiomyoma treatment and offers improved outcomes in the perioperative period.

Summary: This study compared robotic-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy (RALM), conventional laparoscopic myomectomy (CLM), and abdominal myomectomy (AM) for uterine fibroid treatment. RALM was found to be superior to AM in all assessed parameters except operation duration. RALM performed similarly to CLM in most parameters; however, it had reduced intraoperative bleeding and lower conversion rate to laparotomy in patients with small fibroids, making it a safer overall approach.

Summary: This study analyzed the operative and maternal-fetal outcomes of laparotomic myomectomy in 28 pregnant women with symptomatic uterine fibroids. The procedure was performed between 14 and 16 weeks of pregnancy. The incidence of intraoperative complications was 14.3%, and postoperative complications were observed in 32.1% of cases. Most women (85.7%) delivered at full term, with more than half (54.2%) having vaginal deliveries and normal fetal weights.

Summary: This study compared the cost-effectiveness of different treatment approaches for uterine fibroids (UFs). The results showed that myomectomy was the most cost-effective strategy, while hysterectomy was more expensive and less effective. Furthermore, the study found an increased risk of coronary artery disease associated with hysterectomy.

Summary: The study evaluated temporal changes in endometrial blood flow after LM, finding that recovery was negatively correlated with patient age. The results suggest that endometrial blood flow may play a role in wound healing after myomectomy. Individualized wound healing strategies after myomectomy may be needed based on endometrial blood flow measurements.

Summary: The study compared the clinical application of single-port laparoscopic myomectomy with traditional three-port laparoscopic myomectomy in 120 patients. Results showed that the single-port laparoscopic group had shorter specimen removal time, postoperative ambulation time, first exhaust time after surgery, and length of hospital stay, with higher satisfaction of abdominal wall scar. However, the duration of surgery was significantly longer in the single-port laparoscopic group.

Summary: Reproductive aged women with fibroids must weigh the risks and benefits of preconception myomectomy. This study compared perinatal outcomes in women with prior myomectomy versus those with no prior myomectomy but at least one fibroid >= 5 cm, finding that women with prior myomectomy had significantly more preterm births, potentially due to more preterm cesareans recommended post-surgery.

The results showed that patients who underwent sentinel node biopsy + lymphadenectomy (SNB+LA) were less likely to receive adjuvant therapy and had higher risks of relapse and death compared to those who underwent lymphadenectomy alone (LA).

Summary: The most recent international guidelines on recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) do not recommend immunological tests due to lack of evidence-based support. The ambiguity in RPL definition, etiological factors, diagnostic work-up, and treatments hampers metanalysis and systematic reviews. The heterogeneity in cohorts, inadequate sample size, and data quality contribute to the non-standardized research quality in the RPL field, particularly in immunological research.

Summary: Endometrial polyps are a common gynecological condition and hysteroscopy is the standard diagnostic and treatment procedure. This study compared pain perception in patients undergoing hysteroscopic endometrial polypectomy with different hysteroscopes. The results showed that the use of a semirigid hysteroscope led to significantly greater pain. Cervical stenosis and menopausal status were identified as risk factors for pain. The study suggests that rigid instruments may be better tolerated for this procedure.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the position and muscle activity of the lumbopelvic region and lumbar muscles during breastfeeding. The results showed that side lying and clutch-hold positions led to more flexion of the lumbar spine compared to standing. Sitting postures caused retroversion of the pelvis compared to standing and side lying. Muscle activity analysis revealed that side lying position resulted in lower activation intensity of the right erector muscle compared to other breastfeeding positions.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate whether different surgical approaches in FIGO stage IB1-IB2 cervical cancer led to different patterns of disease recurrence. The results showed that minimally invasive surgery was not associated with different recurrence patterns compared to abdominal radical hysterectomy, and there was no higher risk of distant metastasis or significant difference in terms of disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).

Summary: A significant effort has been made to redefine the risk classes of endometrial cancer (EC) in recent years, but the current prognostic factors and biomolecular classification are insufficient in predicting outcomes and recurrences. Although biomolecular classification has improved the risk assessment and treatment selection, it fails to fully explain the differences in recurrence profiles. There is also a lack of evidence in EC guidelines. This article summarizes the reasons why molecular classification alone is not enough in managing endometrial cancer and highlights some innovative examples with potential clinical significance in scientific literature studies.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic and associated movement restrictions had significant negative effects on the lifestyle and mental well-being of patients with schizophrenia. They spent more time sitting, less time walking, increased tobacco consumption, and reported higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to before the pandemic. However, their adherence to the Mediterranean diet did not change significantly.
