This paper extends the thermodynamic dislocation theory proposed by Le (2018) to finite deformations. The equations of motion of dislocated crystals having one active slip system are derived from the variational equation involving the free energy density and the positive definite dissipation function. The simplification of the theory obtained by neglecting the excess dislocations is also considered. For illustration, the problem of finite strain constrained shear is solved within the proposed theory. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
