Summary: Given the limited fossil fuel resources and the negative environmental impact of their combustion during energy production, transitioning to sustainable and renewable energy carriers is a pressing global issue. Hydrogen, produced through catalytic conversion of renewable feedstocks, shows great promise. However, challenges exist in improving the economics, efficiency, and stability of hydrogen production technologies. Developing inexpensive catalysts with high stability and activity is crucial for further advancements. This Special Issue compiles high-quality articles and reviews on diverse topics related to sustainable hydrogen production, contributed by authors from various countries.

Summary: Globally, the increase in human population has led to the rise of various industries, resulting in the production of various types of wastes. Industrial pollutants have become a major concern due to their harmful effects on human and environmental health. Effective waste management is in high demand to handle the increasing amount of waste generated. This review explores the utilization of industrial waste in the production of sustainable biosurfactants and discusses their categorization. It also emphasizes waste management and its implications for the bioeconomy, offering recent scientific literature and highlighting research needs in this area.

Summary: This study investigated a green process for utilizing non-radioactive gold tailings and granulated blast furnace slag to synthesize a green and sustainable backfill material. The mix design containing 20% GBFS and 80% GT yielded the optimum strength. The study proved that particle size distribution has an impact on the strength development of GBFS modified GT.

Summary: This study investigates the electrolytic transesterification of waste cooking oil (WCO) using reusable magnetic waste shells derived Co/Fe-Ca based catalysts for biodiesel production. The reaction conditions were optimized using response surface methodology, resulting in high fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content and improved energy efficiency. The experimental results show that this method holds promise for sustainable biodiesel production and disposal of WCO.

Summary: Experimental analyses on seventeen new amide/sulfonamide containing nimesulide derivatives revealed that compounds N8 and N10 exhibited remarkable potency and selectivity for COX-2 enzyme, with the ability to selectively reduce LPS-stimulated COX-2 mRNA expression level and suppress PGE2 release and nitric oxide production in macrophage cells.

Summary: This work investigates the impact of humidity on the acetone sensitivity of nano-sized thin films made from oxacalix[4]arenes(1,3) molecules via spin coating. The surface morphologies and volatile organic compound (VOC) sensor properties of the films were analyzed using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The results show that the calculated sensitivities of the 1 and 3 thin film sensors were 14% and 11% higher when measured with acetone and water vapor compared to dry air and acetone mixture.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of novel indole ring-containing compounds as potential eEF2K inhibitors and synthesized seven new compounds. Through in silico modeling and in vitro experiments, two of these compounds were found to have significant inhibitory activity against eEF2K in TNBC cells. This suggests that these compounds may serve as potential therapeutic agents targeting eEF2K.
