Summary: The study evaluated the use of coronary artery calcium (CAC) score to guide hypertension therapy in individuals without cardiovascular disease. Results showed that among those with CAC>0, there was a higher risk of incident cardiovascular events in individuals with elevated BP or low-risk stage 1 hypertension, as well as in those with high-risk stage 1 or stage 2 hypertension. The study suggests that utilizing CAC score may help personalize cardiovascular risk reduction strategies in individuals where current guidelines do not recommend treatment.

Summary: The study found that cumulative blood pressure in young adults is associated with the risk of heart failure, coronary heart disease, stroke, and cardiovascular diseases. Cumulative blood pressure provides incremental prognostic value and improves risk reclassification for cardiovascular diseases when compared to single blood pressure assessments or changes in blood pressure.

Summary: In a study of a general Chinese population, prolonged QTc interval was found to be associated with an increased risk of stroke and combined cardiovascular disease, but not with coronary heart disease. The findings suggest that baseline QTc interval may be an important predictor of future cardiovascular events in adults without prior cardiovascular disease.

Summary: Coronary artery disease is a major cause of mortality worldwide, with pharmacological interventions like antiplatelet drugs, anticoagulant drugs, and statins commonly used to manage symptoms and prevent cardiovascular events. However, existing drugs have limitations and adverse effects, highlighting the need for new drug development. Marine natural products, known for their chemical diversity and biological activities, show promise in treating coronary artery disease, with substances like organic small molecules, polysaccharides, proteins, and lipids showing efficacy.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between nut consumption and academic performance in Spanish adolescents, taking into account sociodemographic, anthropometric, and lifestyle factors. The results showed that consuming 3 or more servings of nuts per week was consistently associated with higher grades in language, combination of language and math, grade point average, and combination of all school records. These associations remained significant even after adjusting for covariates, although sex and socioeconomic level played a role in the associations.

Summary: The aim of this study was to examine whether cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) decreases the association between insulin resistance and sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption in Spanish schoolchildren. The results showed that certain levels of CRF moderate the association between SSB consumption and insulin resistance. When CRF is low, SSB consumption is positively associated with insulin levels or HOMA-IR. However, when CRF is high, the association between SSB consumption and insulin resistance decreases.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between orthostatic hypotension and arterial stiffness. The results showed that increased arterial stiffness raises the risk of orthostatic hypotension by 40% among the adult population. Considering the close relationship between orthostatic hypotension and the risk of cardiovascular events, appropriate control of arterial stiffness could be a clinical strategy to prevent cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that regular consumption of milk fat globule membranes (MFGMs) has positive effects on neural and cognitive development, as well as immune and gastrointestinal health in infants and elders. Dairy by-products generated from the butter and butter oil manufacturing process are valuable sources of MFGM. Therefore, it is important to conduct research on the utilization of these by-products to obtain MFGM-enriched ingredients for the production of biologically active products.

Different food matrices and MFGM supplementation levels were tested, and the lipid profiles of micellar fractions and intestinal cells were analyzed. The results show that the food matrices and supplementation levels affect the lipid composition and assimilation in intestinal cells, indicating the importance of application-based MFGM supplementation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the diet and nutritional status of milk donors and the nutritional composition of donor human milk (DHM). The results showed that DHM docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) content was positively associated with donors' plasma DHA content and DHA intake. DHM saturated fatty acids were positively associated with erythrocyte dimethyl acetals, plasma stearic acid, trans fatty acids intake, and breastfeeding duration. DHM cholecalciferol was associated with plasma cholecalciferol levels and dairy intake.
