The compound texture effect on the acoustic performances of the plate and journal bearing is studied using a Sound Level Meter, based on a MFT-5000 tribotester and a SKLMT multipurpose transmission tribotester. The two noise experimental tests both are carried out under the lubrication state and the tests show that the compound texture can more obviously decrease the average acoustic power level of the noise for the plate and bearing than the simple texture. The experimental results obtained from the plate noise experiment show that the noise reduction of the plate due to the compound texture is obvious at the high lubricant viscosity. And this reduction is also close to the load applied on the plate and the sliding speed. The experimental results from the journal bearing noise experiment show that the large second layer pore radius of the compound texture at the high film pressure zone can bring out an obvious noise reduction of the bearing. Moreover, the bearing noise reduction is related to the shaft's rotational speed and the lubricant type.
