Summary: The study compared the risk of early post-operative endoscopic recurrence in Crohn's disease patients undergoing end-to-end anastomosis (ETEA) versus side-to-side anastomosis (STSA). The results showed that in emergency surgeries, ETEA was associated with a higher risk of EPER, while early initiation of biologics and/or immunosuppressants and smoking cessation were crucial for this high-risk group of patients.

Summary: The results of the Remedy study suggest that mesenteric removal during surgery for ileocolic CD does not have a significant impact on postoperative complications, endoscopic and ultrasonographic recurrences, and long-term surgical recurrence.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of side-to-side (S-S) and end-to-end (E-E) anastomosis after ileocecal resection in Crohn's disease patients. The results showed no significant differences in postoperative complications and endoscopic recurrence between the two anastomosis types. However, the S-S anastomosis significantly reduced the risk of surgical and endoscopic reintervention in the long term.

Summary: The macroscopic appearance of the bowel and associated mesentery during surgery does not appear to be predictive of postoperative recurrence after ileocecal resection for Crohn's disease. Prospective studies investigating risk factors for Crohn's disease recurrence after surgery are scarce.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of early prophylaxis with biologics in preventing endoscopic-post-operative-recurrence (ePOR) in Crohn's disease (CD) after ileocecal resection (ICR). The study compared the effectiveness of anti-tumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy with vedolizumab (VDZ) and ustekinumab (UST). The results showed that 60% of patients successfully prevented ePOR within 1 year after surgery. Patients treated with VDZ or UST were more difficult to treat. After controlling for confounders, there were no differences in ePOR risk between anti-TNF prophylaxis and other treatment groups.

Summary: This study investigated the role of NOD2 gene after limited ileocecal resection (ICR). The results showed that Nod2 knockout mice had impaired healing after the surgery, and treatment with NOD2 agonist did not improve the situation. Additionally, Nod2 knockout mice had a lower rate of anastomotic leak.

Summary: Kono-S ileocolic anastomosis appears to be more effective in reducing the risk of ePOR at >= 6 months compared to conventional anastomosis. However, larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of using the full thickness resection device (FTRD) system and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for the treatment of residual colorectal neoplasia (RCN). The results showed that ESD was effective in achieving R0 resection regardless of the size and location of the lesions. When residual lesions were smaller than 20 mm, FTRD was an effective alternative.

Summary: Tracheal stenosis is a rare condition where the trachea becomes narrow. A thorough preoperative evaluation is essential to determine the appropriate surgical procedure. Tracheal resection and anastomosis is a viable option, especially for extensive and high-grade lesions or failed endoscopic procedures. The patient in this case had undergone balloon dilatation and tracheal resection before, and was referred to our clinic with residual tracheal stenosis. We illustrate the surgical procedure and highlight a unique way to perform the anastomosis, particularly in a revision surgery.

Summary: In this study, a limited resection and ileocecal anastomosis method for the treatment of ileocecal valve Crohn's disease was proposed. The surgical procedure allowed the preservation of the caecum and colon, and no changes were observed in the mucosa of the ileocecal anastomosis after surgery.
