Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the consistency of causal statements in observational studies published in The BMJ. It found that some papers had inconsistencies in the use of causal language between the submitted and published versions, mainly due to discrepancies between objectives and conclusions. Further guidance for authors on causal statements and assumptions is recommended based on the findings.

Summary: This review summarizes the latest knowledge on HEV infection, including its epidemiology, clinical characteristics, testing, and treatment. The distinct challenges and possible remedies for HEV in Bangladesh are also highlighted. HEV remains a neglected virus, with costly tests and a lack of suitable treatments hindering detection. Improved surveillance, raised awareness, and the effectiveness trial in Bangladesh may significantly reduce the global burden of HEV.

Summary: This study found that independent risk factors associated with illness-related medical encounters (illME) during endurance cycling events included slower cycling speed and higher wet-bulb globe temperature. Older age and slower cycling speed were associated with serious and life-threatening or death medical encounters. Fluid and electrolyte disorders were more common in females, older individuals, and those exposed to higher temperatures, while cardiovascular illness was more common in older individuals.

Summary: This study aims to explore the reasons and future career plans of undergraduate medical students who drop out of longitudinal extracurricular general practice (GP) tracks. The results showed that students predominantly leave the tracks during the first 2 years, citing reasons such as distance to GP teaching practice, interest in other medical disciplines, personal reasons, and mentorship as influencing factors. However, the majority of students indicated that their exit could not have been prevented by project administration.

Summary: Achilles tendon ruptures (ATR) are career-threatening injuries in elite soccer players. This study analyzed the match participation before and after ATRs and evaluated the performance of a machine learning model to predict the return to previous participation levels. The results showed that it takes about 1 year for most players to reach peak match participation after ATR, and the ML model performed well in predicting post-injury match participation, with pre-injury match participation being the most important feature.
