NiCo2O4 nanosheet arrays grown on a nickel foam substrate are fabricated by a facile hydrothermal method. The as-synthesized NiCo2O4 nanostructure arrays can provide rich reaction sites and short ion diffusion path. Therefore, the as-synthesized NiCo2O4 products as binder-free electrodes for supercapacitors exhibit remarkable electrochemical performance with areal capacity of 1.18 C cm(-2) at a current density of 2 mA cm(-2), excellent rate performance and outstanding cycling stability. The assembled supercapacitor using NiCo2O4 electrode as the positive electrode delivers a volumetric energy density of 0.11 mW h cm(-3) at a volumetric power density of 7.5 mW h cm(-3). NiCo2O4 nanosheet electrode exhibits promising electrochemical applications in future energy storage device.
