Summary: Fluorescent Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with 4-methylene-7-methoxycoumarin (MMC) and 2,6-diisopropylphenyl (Dipp) substituted NHC/1,2,3-triazole hybrid ligands were described, showing antiproliferative activity against cervix and breast cancer cells, with the tetradentate coordination mode being notably more effective. The Pd(s) complex with bidentate coordination mode was only active against HeLa, exhibiting high selectivity for cancer cells compared to healthy skin cells. The compound is believed to be located in late endosomes or lysosomes according to fluorescence microscopy.

Summary: In this study, a new Schiff base and its Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The antiproliferative activities of these compounds on liver cancer cells were evaluated, and it was found that the complexes exhibited stronger activity than the ligand. Electroporation was also shown to enhance the cytotoxicity of the complexes. These findings suggest that the Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes have potential as anti-cancer agents, particularly in electrochemotherapy.

Summary: Pt(terpyridine) complexes are known for their ability to intercalate with DNA. The addition of an NHC co-ligand significantly increased the anticancer activity of the complex compared to its chlorido derivative. While the compound showed high efficacy, it was well-tolerated by zebrafish embryos, especially when compared to cisplatin. DNA interaction studies suggest that the mode of action is related to intercalation.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of structure, halogen substitution, metal ions, and ligand flexibility on the antiproliferative activity of Cu(II) and Pt(II) complexes. The results showed that these complexes exhibited different structures depending on the ligand used and the presence of a base during preparation. All complexes demonstrated a reduction in cancer cell viability, but only complexes with iodo-substituted ligands showed low cytotoxicity in normal cells. Further analysis revealed that the I-2-H2L2-Cu complex induced cell death through apoptosis and autophagy mechanisms in the A2780 cell line.

Summary: This study presents the synthesis and characterization of six new heteroleptic osmium(II) complexes with varying substituents in the R3 position of the phenyl ring of the cyclometalating C^N ligand. These complexes are highly kinetically inert and absorb a full-wavelength range of visible light. The antiproliferative activity of these complexes has been investigated using human cancer and noncancerous cell cultures, showing that they are more potent than conventional cisplatin. The mechanism of action involves the activation of the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway and disruption of calcium homeostasis.
