Summary: The study found that the frequency and absolute number of NK cells in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were significantly lower than in healthy individuals. The expression of surface receptors and cytokine production in NK cells were affected in patients, and correlated with high blood glucose levels.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that autophagy plays a crucial role in maintaining the function of islet beta cells and inhibiting insulin resistance and apoptosis induced by oxidative stress. However, dysfunction of autophagy may also have negative effects on type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Summary: In the SURPASS-2 trial, treatment with Tirzepatide showed better glycemic control and greater weight loss compared to Semaglutide in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, there were no significant differences in mean systolic blood pressure among the enrolled patients in different treatment groups.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that increased glucagon and decreased somatostatin secretion from the pancreas play a significant role in hyperglycaemia in type-2 diabetes patients. Reliable methods to detect delta-cells and somatostatin secretion are crucial for understanding the pathogenesis of type-2 diabetes and developing potential anti-diabetic drugs.

Summary: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a global threat with unclear causes and a lacking predictive tool. Although T2D is clinically associated with metabolic disorders, the existence of nondiabetic obese individuals suggests undiscovered features of such relationships. This study proposes that certain individuals may have an immune profile that increases susceptibility to T2D, highlighting the role of monocytes and tissue macrophages in metabolic organs.

Summary: The study revealed a significant association between endothelial dysfunction as shown by impaired RH-PAT and CCM parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes, possibly indicating that small fibre neuropathy results from impaired endothelial dysfunction. CCM parameters may be considered surrogate markers of autonomic nerve damage related to diabetic endothelial dysfunction. This study is the first to report such a relationship between corneal nerve parameters as small fibre neuropathy and RH-PAT as a marker of endothelial dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Summary: As the prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and cognitive dysfunction rises with age, clinicians are faced with managing older individuals with both conditions. The association between T2D and cognitive dysfunction has led to an increased interest in exploring the potential causal role of T2D in cognitive decline and dementia. Recent advancements in research methods allow for a better understanding of the mechanistic pathways involved in T2D-related cognitive dysfunction, guiding clinical recommendations.

Summary: The study found that epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) treated with high glucose, high palmitate, and lipopolysaccharide released a large amount of proinflammatory cytokines, which may lead to EAT inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes, causing coronary artery endothelial cell dysfunction.

Summary: Type 2 diabetes accounts for nearly 90% of global diabetes cases, with an increasing number of affected individuals, particularly among young people. Early detection and proactive management are crucial for preventing complications and reducing mortality. Technology and precision medicine offer potential improvements to treatment outcomes but face significant barriers.

Summary: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic inflammatory disease, in which the inflammatory states of the pancreas islet and insulin target organs play crucial roles. Cell-cell crosstalk and organ-organ crosstalk contribute to beta-cell dysfunction and reduced insulin sensitivity.
