Summary: Electrostatic spraying is a method of atomizing fluid using high voltage, with various spray modes identified based on applied voltage and flow rate. Experiment evaluated Sauter mean diameter and distribution in each spray mode, confirming smallest droplet size in cone jet mode. Droplet size in cone jet mode linearly increased with viscosity and flow rate.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jetting using phosphate buffered saline (PBS), including the effects of flow rate and voltage on electrospray regimes, droplet size, generation frequencies, and velocities. Regime maps are generated for PBS 1X, PBS 10X, and DI water, with a focus on the Spindle regime.

Summary: We fabricated hybrid composite poly 4-vinlyphenol (PVPh)/graphene thin film using electrospray atomization deposition technique. The dielectric behavior of the PVPh/graphene hybrid composite was investigated and compared to PVPh. The results showed that the PVPh/graphene thin film exhibited better dielectric properties, especially at higher frequencies.

Summary: In this study, the instability and breakup process of an electrified jet of anhydrous ethanol in the electrohydrodynamic simple-jet mode are visualized and analyzed. The evolution of the breakup morphology of the charged jet in the simple-jet mode is described, and the operating window of the simple-jet mode is determined to be within a specific range of Weber number and electric Bond number.

Summary: In electrospray printing, a high electric potential is used to atomize liquid solution and print onto a target substrate. The use of a passive electrostatic funnel helps focus the print material, though it also results in material deflection from the target; furthermore, the distance from the emitter to the target substrate is a key print parameter affecting film growth rates.

Summary: Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jets are a promising technology for creating three-dimensional micro- and nanoscale structures. However, a lack of understanding of the flow mechanisms, such as whipping behavior under higher electric potentials, has hindered progress in this area. In this study, a fully coupled numerical simulation of three-dimensional EHD jet flow is used to capture radial instabilities and improve accuracy in morphology. The impacts of electric capillary numbers and the contact angle between the nozzle surface and the liquid are investigated, and a novel visualization of droplet generation with receded Taylor cone and whipping dynamics is presented.

Summary: In electrospray deposition, solute material is atomized into microdroplets and dispersed in a carrier solvent. The rate of solvent evaporation determines the deposition regime, which can be dry or partially wet. This study compares the microstructure and functional characteristics of films deposited in both regimes using polyimide as the solute material. Numerical modeling shows that solution flow rate and freestream vapor concentration have dominant effects on the deposition regime. Partially wet ESD films have higher dielectric strength and optical transparency compared to dry ESD films, while both provide comparable corrosion resistance.

Summary: This study presents a collision electrochemical method for synthesizing high-quality metal nanoparticles without the use of electrolyte solution. It allows the synthesis of monodisperse homogeneous Au nanoparticles and heterogeneous Pd- and Pt-coated Au nanoparticles, with the morphology of the resultant metal nanoparticles easily tailorable by changing the concentration of the growth solution. This green synthesis method is significant for a variety of nanomaterials.

Summary: This study reports the structure, magneto-optical, and transport properties of epitaxial Mn3Sn thin films fabricated by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The anomalous Hall effect and longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect of the epitaxial films were found comparable to Mn3Sn single crystals. The work paves the way for future device applications of high-quality Mn3Sn epitaxial thin films.

Summary: This paper investigates the mechanisms behind the complex dynamic modes observed when a liquid-liquid interface is exposed to a local electric field, demonstrating that voltage significantly influences deformation while the electrolyte flow rate has a minor impact. Experimental results show that both deformation and current reach limiting values with increasing ion concentration and viscosity.

Summary: Fabricating magnetic films with small nanoparticles and a narrow size distribution is challenging. Nanostructural evolutions inside the nanoparticles play a key role in developing the magnetic properties. The composite films produced through layered growth exhibit higher saturation magnetization than pure FeNi films and can be used in magnetic shields and sensors.

Summary: The study demonstrates that AgCuAl equimolar complex concentrated alloy thin films can form nanoparticles through dewetting with a NIR pulsed-laser system. These nanoparticles mainly consist of Ag and Cu, exhibit local surface plasmon resonance peaks, and their size and wavelength can be controlled by adjusting the energy density.
