Summary: Ultrasound (US), CT, and their combination have different diagnostic accuracies in detecting cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). US has higher sensitivity and specificity than CT in detecting CLNM in patients with PTC, especially in the lateral compartment. The combination of US and CT increases the sensitivity in the patient-based analysis.

Summary: This study compared the performance of dual-energy CT and CT subtraction in detecting arthritis, with CT-S having the highest diagnostic accuracy. Both iMap and MRI showed good correlation and interreader reliability. Musculoskeletal ultrasound remains the most available modality for arthritis imaging and served as the gold standard in this study.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of patient's morphotype on image quality and diagnostic performance of Ultra-Low-Dose (ULD) chest CT. It found a negative correlation between Body Mass Index (BMI) and image quality, but no correlation with diagnostic performance, suggesting a potential use of ULD protocol in obese patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether self-reported diagnostic confidence can predict diagnostic accuracy in axial spondyloarthritis imaging. The results showed significant differences in diagnostic confidence between correct and incorrect responses for all imaging modalities, and self-reported diagnostic confidence can serve as useful information to predict diagnostic reliability.

Summary: This study demonstrates the accuracy and feasibility of using inducible displacement CT in diagnosing aseptic loosening in total hip arthroplasty. The sensitivity and specificity of displacement CT were found to be higher than plain radiography, making it a valuable tool for clinical routine.

Summary: A retrospective study compared the negative appendectomy rates between transfer and primary patients undergoing laparoscopic appendectomy at a pediatric hospital. The study found that there was no significant difference in the negative appendectomy rates between the two groups, despite more frequent use of CT scans by transfer patients at nonpediatric hospitals. Encouraging the use of ultrasound at adult facilities may help safely reduce CT utilization in the evaluation of suspected pediatric appendicitis.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between workload and diagnostic errors on clinical CT scans. The findings suggest that there is a significant association between workload exceeding 100% and diagnostic errors. Diagnostic errors occur throughout the day in clinical CT scans, with no increase towards the end of the day.

Summary: In a selected, high-prevalence population, VP-DECT is considered an accurate imaging tool for diagnosing PE compared to CTPA. The sensitivity of VP-DECT images in per-patient analysis was 90.0%, with 100% specificity; while in per-lobe analysis, sensitivity ranged from 100% for the right lower lobe to 50% for the left upper lobe.

Summary: Radiation therapy plays a significant role in managing head and neck malignancies. Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) can occur as a complication, characterized by bone marrow sclerosis and bone resorption, leading to chronic trismus and pathological fractures. Neurological symptoms may indicate tumor recurrence, but diagnostic imaging is challenging.

Summary: The most common diseases of the guttural pouch are empyema, tympany, mycosis, and temporohyoid osteoarthropathy. Diagnostic imaging techniques, such as radiography, ultrasound, and CT, play important roles in the diagnosis of guttural pouch disease and can provide valuable information about the lesions and surrounding structures. CT is considered the best technique for evaluating the soft tissues and identifying specific lesions associated with guttural pouch disease.

Summary: Spontaneous pneumothorax is the escape of broncho-alveolar air into the pleural space without preceding trauma, requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment. It can be classified into primary and secondary types, affecting different patient populations. Patients with COVID-19 may also experience spontaneous pneumothorax, which can be a significant cause of morbidity.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges to healthcare services. This study suggests that using a single qFIT as a triage test for suspected bowel cancer may lead to a high rate of missed cancers, while adding a second qFIT and CT mini-prep can reduce this risk. However, this approach also increases the rate of colonoscopy or CTVC procedures for patients.

Summary: This study developed and validated a specific questionnaire (SQEA) to assess health-related quality of life in adults with esophageal atresia. The questionnaire showed good feasibility, reliability, and validity. Summary: Understanding antibiotic prescription patterns and non-clinical factors influencing antibiotic use is important for promoting appropriate antibiotic use. Limited research has been done on these issues with Ecuadorian veterinarians. A questionnaire was used to explore the antibiotic prescription patterns and non-clinical factors influencing antibiotic use among veterinarians. The study found that there is a high awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the need to reduce antibiotic use among veterinarians, but there are some misunderstandings about the potential contribution of veterinary antibiotic use to AMR in humans.

Summary: The study aims to determine the breast reconstruction rate in a large Dutch teaching hospital and understand the motives of women to opt for or reject breast reconstruction. A retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted, categorizing patients who underwent mastectomy into two groups based on whether they had subsequent breast reconstruction or not. Patient-reported outcomes were evaluated using the Breast-Q and a short survey. The study found that patients have personal motives for their decision and that patients were well-informed.

The results showed that there was seasonality in antimicrobial use in the cattle and pig sectors, but not in broilers. The use of first-line antimicrobials increased during winter in the cattle sector, and there was significant seasonality in the use of pleuromutilins in the pig sector.
