Summary: Tailored membranes with a fiber diameter of 1.8 μm were electrospun from PLGA and PCLGA solutions by adjusting electrospinning and polymer solution parameters. PCLGA, with its amorphous morphology, required the addition of a salt to increase conductivity for successful electrospinning, presenting notable difficulties due to its structure. Interestingly, PCLGA, with a higher glycolic acid molar fraction, could be successfully electrospun, a feat not previously reported.

Summary: In this study, a Chinese yam polysaccharides PLGA-stabilized Pickering emulsion adjuvant system (CYP-PPAS) loaded with Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) was used as a vaccine to investigate its adjuvant activity on humoral and cellular immunity in mice. The results showed that CYP-PPAS significantly enhanced DCs maturation, increased proliferation index and CD4+/CD8+ ratio, and induced a stronger anti-PCV-2 IgG and mixed Th1/Th2 immune response. The CYP-PPAS group also exhibited a high expression of CD107a, FasL, and Granzyme B secretion, indicating a strong cytotoxic lymphocyte response. Overall, CYP-PPAS was found to be a successful adjuvant system for promoting humoral and cellular immune responses against PCV-2.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.
