Summary: Salt-resistant polymer flooding technology has been widely promoted in oilfields, however, the high mineralization and solid impurities in the water used for polymer configuration, as well as its incompatibility with formation water, often lead to scaling in the pipelines. Additionally, the presence of polymers and anaerobic conditions in buried pipelines create an environment that facilitates corrosion by microorganisms. This study investigated the corrosion behavior of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) on pipelines under CaCO3 deposition using different tests and analysis techniques. The results showed that the deposition layer provided an anaerobic environment for SRB, significantly increasing corrosion rate and promoting galvanic corrosion under deposition.

Summary: Sol-gel technology was employed in this study to produce organic-inorganic hybrid coatings on AISI 1045 carbon steel for corrosion protection. The coatings were prepared using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate precursors. Thermal treatment of the coatings resulted in decreased thickness and improved scratch resistance. Electrochemical measurements showed that the coatings treated at 100 degrees C exhibited higher polarization resistance and less aggressive corrosion compared to higher temperature treatments.

Summary: In this study, inorganic salts were used to regulate interfacial polymerization reactions and break the electrostatic interaction between zwitterions, promoting cross-linking of zwitterionic polyamide networks and forming an intact and ultrathin separation layer. The obtained ZNFMs showed high permeance and rejections for antibiotic/monovalent salt separation, as well as exceptional anti-fouling property.

Summary: This paper explores the application of a new inhibitor IZ for corrosion mitigation of N80 steel in organic acid solutions. Experimental results show that IZ can significantly increase impedance, exhibit mixed-type inhibition behavior, and achieve an inhibition efficiency of 99.54% at a concentration of 200 mg/L. The addition of KI as a synergistic agent further enhances the inhibition efficiency.

Summary: Experiments exposing ground 304 stainless steel samples to sea salt particles at different relative humidity levels showed that corrosion behavior varied significantly depending on the relative humidity of exposure. The distribution of pit populations, pit shapes, and increase in corrosion damage were all different between 40% RH and 76% RH conditions. These findings suggest that the mechanisms determining long-term corrosion behavior are different for different levels of relative humidity exposure.

Summary: The effect of inorganic-organic corrosion inhibitor composition on corrosion inhibition rate was investigated through electrochemical accelerated corrosion experiments and ambient atmosphere corrosion experiments. The performance of the corrosion inhibitor was analyzed to establish the relationship between inhibitor composition, steel temperature, inhibitor temperature, treatment time, and corrosion inhibition rate. The study showed that different types of nano-emulsions can increase the corrosion resistance of reinforcing steel, with the fluorocarbon nano-emulsion DF-1 achieving the highest corrosion inhibition rate of 72.1% among the studied polymer nano-emulsions.

Summary: The sacrificial anodes in reinforced concrete structures have been found to still function adequately overall after more than 15 years, while showing signs of deterioration. Despite experiencing events causing reduction in performance, an anode aging model can be used to predict the approximate current output of the system over time.

Summary: The mechanism of filiform corrosion on acrylic-coated steel was studied by analyzing the anodic and cathodic branches of potentiodynamic curves in two different electrolytes simulating the liquid environments at the metal-paint interface. Zero resistance amperometry was used to obtain numerical results. A simplified setup was used to estimate the potential difference and current density at the filament tip. The impact of oxygen availability on corrosion mechanisms was investigated by adjusting the amount of dissolved oxygen and the humidostatic chamber used for FFC propagation.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion behavior of molten salt with different chlorine ion (Cl) content on metal materials. The results showed that the quaternary mixed molten salt with a low Clcontent of 0.03 wt% had the lowest corrosion rate on stainless steel, and the addition of calcium ions (Ca2+) to solar salt with the same Clcontent of 0.03 wt% reduced the corrosion rate of stainless steel. Morphological analysis of the corrosion products revealed the formation of calcium rich oxide layers containing CaFeO4, which inhibited further corrosion of stainless steel in molten salt.

Summary: Stainless steel is commonly used in industry for the transportation of liquids, but corrosion is a major concern due to the presence of strong acids, contaminants, flow, aqueous environments, and high temperatures. Organic compounds and organic acids can significantly affect the corrosion behavior of stainless steel by damaging the protective oxide film. It is important to understand the impact of these compounds and the role of corrosion inhibitors and monitoring methods in corrosion management.

Summary: Deposition in natural gas pipelines, particularly in the Long Gang gas field in Sichuan, China, was shown to have an emulsion gel-like structure with water-in-oil emulsion. The deposit is stable at room temperature but separates into water, oil, and solid fractions at high temperature. Resins and asphaltenes in the oil fraction play a significant role in deposit formation by strengthening the interfacial film between oil and water phases. The findings of this study could be beneficial for the development of pipeline cleaning techniques and minimizing deposit formation.
