Summary: DNA barcoding and metabarcoding are widely used for species discovery and biodiversity assessments, but high error rates can inflate estimates. The debar package utilizes a hidden Markov model to denoise COI sequences, reducing indel errors and being sensitive to true COI variation in the animal kingdom. This results in more accurate sequences and aids in characterizing species diversity.

Summary: The Peyssonneliaceae is the only family in the order Peyssonneliales, encompassing widespread red encrusting algae. Through molecular phylogenies and morphological analyses, a revised taxonomic scheme for the Peyssonneliales has been proposed, uncovering underestimated diversity in Brazilian red algae.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the phylogenetic relationships between Arabis alpina L. in Afro-Alpina Mountains of southwestern Saudi Arabia and its closely related species using DNA barcode, ITS2, matK and rbcL. The results indicated high success rates for DNA amplification and sequencing with ITS2 and matK, showing variations between A. alpina of Saudi Arabia and specimens from different geographical origins.

Summary: Two new species of aphids were described, Aphis (Toxoptera) fafuensis and Aphis (Toxoptera) sennae, which feed on Adinandra millettii and Senna bicapsularis, respectively, in China. Morphological and molecular data supported the taxonomic classification of these new species within the subgenus Aphis (Toxoptera). A key for identifying apterous viviparous females of this subgenus was provided.

Summary: This study describes two new species, Endoplura jejuensis and E. koreana, from Korea based on molecular and morphological analyses. Phylogenetic analysis shows that they are closely related to E. aurea from Japan. E. jejuensis is characterized by small light to dark brown thalli, while E. koreana has larger olive or yellowish-brown thalli.

Summary: The coralline algal genus Corallinapetra is monospecific and distinct from other families and orders within the Corallinophycidae. DNA analysis supports the establishment of a new family and order for Corallinapetra, and the reassignment of L. gabrielii to Corallinapetra. Additionally, comparison of molecular data confirms the placement of L. muelleri within the Hapalidiales.

Summary: Separatatus megagnathus sp. nov. is newly discovered in South Korea. This record confirms the presence of the genus Separatatus Chen & Wu, 1994 (Braconidae: Alysiinae) for the first time in South Korea. The genus and species are described and illustrated in this paper, and an identification key including the newly discovered Korean species is provided. Additionally, the DNA barcode region of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) has been analyzed for the newly discovered species.
