Making Li2O2 Different in Solution

In the November issue of Chem, Dong and co-workers developed a unique soluble electrocatalyst, a Ru(II) polypyridyl complex (RuPC), for Li-O-2 batteries. As a result of the specific interactions between the Ru( II) center and O-2(-) /LiO2 species, reversible formation and decomposition of Li2O2 occur in the electrolyte solution, and the Li-O-2 cell sees drastic improvement in performance.
