Summary: In recent years, lab-made potentiostats have been developed as cost-effective alternatives for point-of-care electrochemical biosensing. However, these devices lack the capability to interface with and control optical excitation sources, limiting their application in photoelectrochemical biosensing. To overcome this limitation, a portable reader for point-of-care photoelectrochemical biosensing (PECsense) has been designed and validated. This device allows for chronoamperometry while synchronously controlling an optical excitation source, and can be remotely controlled via Bluetooth Low Energy communication protocol.
