We study transient extensional vibration of a ZnO piezoelectric semiconductor nanofiber fixed at one end with a suddenly applied axial force at the other end. A theoretical analysis is performed using a one-dimensional model based on the phenomenological theory of piezoelectric semiconductors consisting of the equations of piezoelectricity coupled to the continuity equation of electrons. A trigonometric series solution is obtained which converges rapidly. The propagation of the axial displacement, electric potential, and electrons produced by the end load are calculated and examined.
