Summary: The field of biomarker discovery is rapidly expanding, especially in the area of serum and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers of peripheral neuropathy. Some biomarkers are already being used in clinical practice, while others are still under evaluation. With the increasing availability of biomarkers for clinical use, it has become challenging for clinicians and researchers to stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

Summary: In this study, proximity extension assay was used to identify candidate serum protein biomarkers for disease activity in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). The results suggest that IRAK4, as well as SUGT1, DCTN1, NT5C3A, and GLRX, are potential biomarkers for monitoring clinical disease activity in CIDP.

Summary: Depression, a common psychiatric disease, can lead to accelerated cognitive dysfunction. This study investigated the relationship between copper levels and cognitive functions in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and found that high copper levels were correlated with decreased memory scores. Furthermore, in mice, increased copper levels in stress-induced depressive behaviors were associated with hippocampal neuron damage and decreased levels of GluN2B and PSD95, which are involved in synaptic function and memory. These findings suggest that copper may play a role in depression-related cognitive disorders and could be a potential therapeutic target.

Summary: Major depressive disorder is linked to higher suicide risk and reduced work productivity, while neuroimmunology research sheds light on the development and outcomes of MDD. Cytokines play a crucial role in neuroimmunology, impacting depressive symptoms and being influenced by antidepressant treatment. Machine learning serves as a powerful tool for recognizing patterns in data and has the potential to enhance our understanding of neuroimmunology and depression.

Summary: Migraine is a hereditary disease characterized by one-sided or bilateral pain that worsens with physical activity, accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia. The pathogenesis and mechanism of migraine are still unclear, but research has shown the involvement of various brain areas and the trigeminovascular system. Genetic and environmental factors play important roles in the development and exacerbation of migraine.

Summary: This study will conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on eye-tracking research in adults with major depressive disorder or other clinically diagnosed depressive disorders. The study will include non-randomized studies using eye movement tasks and assess the risk of bias and confidence in cumulative evidence.

Summary: This study aimed to stratify risk for developing depression in adolescents using a composite risk score. By recruiting a cohort enriched for low and high depression risk, as well as adolescents with untreated major depressive episode, the study examined multiple neurobiological, psychological, and environmental measures related to depression risk. Results showed that individuals at high risk for depression exhibited worse indicators in psychopathology and exposure to negative events compared to low-risk individuals.

Summary: Dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin play crucial roles in the interaction between the nervous and immune systems by binding to cell-receptors and regulating their function. Dysregulation of monoamines may contribute to fatigue and depression in Multiple Sclerosis, with potential for targeted drug treatments.

Summary: The treatment of bipolar depression remains challenging, with only a few FDA-approved medications available. This study investigated the pharmacodynamic properties of cariprazine and found that it aligns well with a previously developed model, suggesting a combination of effects on different receptors is necessary for effective treatment. The role of norepinephrine reuptake inhibition in cariprazine's mechanism of action requires further clarification.

Summary: This study analyzed 186 patients with MOGAD and found that MOGAD mainly affects women, with higher relapse rates and more severe disability in adult patients. Persistently positive MOG antibodies and timely maintenance treatment can reduce the risk of relapse and disability severity.

Summary: Apathy is a common issue after stroke, affecting one out of three patients, but it is often clinically under-recognized and misdiagnosed. Research on the neurobiology of apathy suggests a lack of consistent associations between stroke lesion location and the development of apathy, calling for a network neuroscience approach to better understand this phenomenon.
