Summary: The study found that gastric emptying is not a determinant of the postprandial GLP-1 response in individuals, but the intrinsic gastric emptying rate is partly determined by the responsiveness of GLP-1 to intestinal nutrients.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a syndrome and endocrine disorder characterized by glucose homeostasis loss due to insulin dysfunction. This study compared the effects of streptozotocin (STZ) on biochemical, toxicological, and hematological parameters between normoglycemic and STZ-induced type 2 diabetic male albino rats. The results showed significant variations in blood glucose, biochemical parameters, toxicological parameters, and hematological parameters in the STZ-induced type 2 diabetic rats compared to the normoglycemic group.

Summary: The study found that day-to-day variations in fasting plasma glucose do not significantly affect gastric emptying in patients with type 1 diabetes; on the contrary, chronic hyperglycemia is associated with slowed gastric emptying. This contrasts with the impact of rapid glucose fluctuations on gastric emptying.

Summary: The alkaloidal extract derived from Zanthoxylum zanthoxyloides showed antidiabetic and insulin secretory effects in normoglycemic and experimental diabetic rats, with potential for diabetes management. The extract improved glucose kinetics, restored islet population, and insulin levels, and stimulated insulin secretion, indicating its potential as a treatment for diabetes.

Summary: The study investigated the rapid entero-pancreatic hormone secretion after nutrient ingestion and its correlation with gastric emptying and glucose absorption. Findings showed characteristic differences in timing and amplitude of early postprandial hormone responses, emphasizing the need to consider individual variations when interpreting mean responses and designing study protocols.

Summary: Gastroparesis is a severe complication observed in women with diabetes mellitus, characterized by abnormal gastric emptying without mechanical obstruction. Our study demonstrates the protective effects of supplemental 17 beta-estradiol on NO-mediated gastric function. The administration of E-2 alleviates oxidative and inflammatory stress and improves metabolic homeostasis in diabetic mice.

Summary: According to the theory of mutual constitution of culture and psyche, individuals' psychological states can influence culture, and this interaction is a cyclical process. Lack of personal control leads individuals to prefer tighter cultures, which in turn decrease personal control but increase collective control.

Summary: This article conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of brown seaweed on plasma glucose levels. The results suggest that brown seaweed may have potential in preventing and managing hyperglycemia, particularly in postprandial plasma glucose levels. However, further research, including high-quality randomized controlled trials, is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The rate of nutrient gastric emptying from the stomach increases by 37-43% in late pregnancy compared to non-pregnant and pre-pregnancy rats, contradicting the assumption that gastric emptying is delayed during pregnancy. If confirmed in further studies, this finding suggests the need for new therapies to slow nutrient absorption during pregnancy, potentially preventing and treating pregnancy-associated nausea, gestational diabetes, and insulin-resistant states such as pre-eclampsia.

Summary: This study found a higher prevalence of MAC in T2DM patients than previously reported, with insulin resistance and inflammation being predictive factors for MAC, although significant markers differ across studies. This suggests that widely available screening methods can help in the early identification of MAC in diabetes patients.

Summary: The study investigated the correlations between two adipokines (chemerin, adiponectin), PVAT morphological changes (adipocyte size, blood vessel wall thickness) and arterial stiffness (AS) parameters in patients with morbid obesity. The findings suggest that chemerin and adipocyte size could be predictive biomarkers for AS in patients with morbid obesity.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a cost-effective and non-invasive machine learning (ML) method using the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) score and low-cost biological predictors to estimate endoscopic disease activity (EDA) in ulcerative colitis (UC). The inclusion of IBDQ in the predictors improved accuracy and the AUC for both the random forest (RF) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifiers. The RF technique outperformed the MLP method on unseen data, indicating its superior performance. This study is the first to propose the use of IBDQ as a predictor in an ML model to estimate UC EDA.

Summary: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide, especially among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Currently, there are no approved pharmacologic therapies for NAFLD. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are being evaluated as potential candidates for NAFLD treatment in T2DM patients. Some GLP-1RAs have shown potential benefits in reducing hepatic steatosis, improving nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) lesions, and slowing down fibrosis progression in NAFLD patients.

Summary: The diagnosis and management of infective endocarditis (IE) during pregnancy is crucial for the well-being of both the mother and the fetus. Risk factors, such as pre-existing cardiovascular conditions and modern factors like intracardiac devices and intravenous drug administration, need to be considered by multidisciplinary teams. Treatment should focus on eradicating infection while protecting the fetus, creating challenges for cardiologists and gynecologists.

Summary: This study aimed to identify imaging parameters for predicting early-onset arterial stiffness. Our results suggest that epicardial adipose tissue thickness, carotid intima-media thickness, relative wall thickness, and carotid cross-sectional area might be useful parameters for early prediction of arterial stiffness in patients with morbid obesity.
