Summary: The study evaluated the performance of an automatic deep learning (DL) algorithm for measuring size, mass, and volume in predicting prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and compared it with manual measurements. The results showed that the DL algorithm can replace human measurements for more accurate T-staging of LUAD and can better predict prognosis for ground glass nodules (GGNs) than manual measurements. This demonstrates the clinical relevance of DL algorithm in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.

Summary: This study investigated the prognostic value of preoperative high-sensitivity mGPS (HS-GPS) in patients with colon cancer. It found that HS-GPS is useful for predicting the prognosis of resectable advanced colon cancer. However, GPS may be more effective than HS-GPS as a prognostic model for advanced colon cancer.

Summary: This study identified 17 studies with a total of 5828 cancer patients through systematic database search and meta-analysis. The results showed that the high-sensitivity modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (HS-mGPS) was associated with adverse survival outcomes, with a high HS-mGPS being linked to adverse OS, DSS, and DFS. The HS-mGPS can serve as a valid prognostic biomarker for cancer patients.

Summary: The high-sensitivity modified Glasgow prognostic score (Hs-mGPS) is a powerful prognostic factor for castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), with risk classification using Hs-mGPS, PSA, and testosterone (TST) potentially useful in predicting prognosis for late staged CRPC patients. An elevated Hs-mGPS was shown to be an independent prognostic factor in CRPC patients treated with docetaxel therapy.

Summary: This meta-analysis found that Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS) and modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) have the potential to predict overall survival and progression-free survival in patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The prognostic performance of these scores may vary among different types of cancer.

Summary: High-sensitivity modified Glasgow prognostic score (HS-mGPS) and mGPS were compared in predicting oncological outcomes in patients with soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) who underwent primary surgical tumour resection. The study found that patients with HS-mGPS and mGPS scores of 1 or 2 had a poorer survival rate, and tumor size and mGPS score were significant prognostic factors.

Summary: This study found that sarcopenia is associated with poorer post-transplant physical functioning in kidney transplant recipients. Preoperative diagnosis of sarcopenia was linked to lower hand grip strength and timed up and go performance at 6 months follow up. These findings can be used to identify patients at increased risk of poor postoperative physical functional outcome, allowing for preoperative interventions to mitigate these risks.

Summary: The study evaluated the superiority of MRI, [F-18]FDG PET/CT, and M-PET/CT in prognostic stratification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients based on long-term survival evidence. The results showed that MRI performed better in T stage, while [F-18]FDG PET/CT performed better in N and M stage. The TNM staging method involving T-MRI + N-PET/CT + M-PET/CT significantly improved NPC patients' long-term prognostic stratification.

Summary: The study compared 4C mortality score, systemic inflammatory response measures, and clinicopathological characteristics in two consecutive cohorts of COVID-19 patients. The results revealed that cohort 2 was older, more likely to be female, and have less independent living circumstances compared to cohort 1. However, there was no significant difference in 30-day mortality between the two cohorts.

Deprivation is associated with a raised f-Hb in the absence of pathology, which should be considered when utilizing FIT in symptomatic patients.

Summary: Previous studies have shown that consuming dairy products during pregnancy is associated with a reduction in postpartum depression symptoms. However, the effect of consuming dairy products after childbirth on postpartum depression is not fully understood. This study evaluated the effects of dairy products and nutrient intake after childbirth on the risk of postpartum depression. The results suggest that while there may appear to be an increased risk of postpartum depression with higher intake of dairy products and other nutrients, there is no significant association after considering confounding factors.

Summary: This study aims to determine the incidence risk of Postpartum Depression (PPD) in Saudi Arabian women and its relationship with various factors. Results showed that 75% of the surveyed women scored within the risk range for PPD (& GE;12). Significant associations were found between family income, baby age, birth difficulty, family support, physical activity level, and the risk for PPD (p < 0.05). Urgent attention should be given to screening and treatment of PPD, and programs for awareness, education, and support of postpartum mothers in Saudi Arabia are needed.
