Summary: This study reviewed definitions of global health in literature between 2009 and 2019, categorizing them into four theoretical categories, including global health as a multiplex approach to health improvement, an ethically oriented initiative guided by justice principles, a mode of governance influencing problem identification and resource allocation across borders, and a versatile concept with multiple meanings and historical antecedents. The study suggests that future debates on the definition of global health should focus on pragmatic questions about who defines global health and their intentions.

Summary: This study examined the metric properties of the Oral Health Impact Profile for Temporomandibular Disorders (OHIP-TMD) using Factor/Rasch analyses and created a short-form version of the measure. The results showed that the OHIP-TMD demonstrated multi-dimensionality with the primary dimension consisting of nine reliable items with adequate fit to the Rasch model. This short-form version has the potential to be an effective tool for evaluating oral health-related quality of life.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate missing data patterns in the 49-item Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) and found very low levels of missingness across individual OHIP items and set of related items. No specific item or set of items was associated with more missing data. Missing data did not depend on the number of questions answered by participants, and sociodemographic factors influenced missingness differently in supervised and unsupervised studies.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus is the most common medical complication in pregnancy, affecting approximately 15% of pregnancies worldwide. It increases the risk of complications and may lead to the development of type 2 diabetes in both the mother and infant. The increasing incidence of GDM also poses a significant economic burden.

Summary: Celiac disease (CeD) is an autoimmune disease triggered by the ingestion of gluten in genetically susceptible individuals, with a benign course following a gluten-free diet, but an increased risk of malignancies, especially lymphomas and small bowel carcinoma. Enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL) and small bowel carcinoma (SBC) are specifically associated with CeD, and there is ongoing investigation into the potential links between CeD and other cancers.

Summary: The effect of bariatric surgery on the oral health status of obese individuals was evaluated. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the rate of caries, missing teeth, or filled teeth before and after the surgery. However, there was a slight increase in salivary flow and probing depth, and post-surgical patients showed an increase in tooth wear at the dentin level.

Summary: The review of BIA studies on anti-diabetic drugs revealed significant methodological differences and low compliance to good practice guidelines in some studies. Future research should focus on optimizing compliance to national or ISPOR BIA guidelines and improving model validation and sensitivity analysis. Continued improvement in BIA using real-world data is crucial for ensuring high-quality analyses and reliable results.

Summary: This scoping review provides a summary of the implementation and outcomes of digital population management dashboards for improving anticoagulant management. Twelve relevant manuscripts were identified, primarily from US organizations, describing positive results such as reduction of questionable dosing and improvement in appointment attendance and intervention efficiency. Digital dashboards have shown potential to enhance the quality, safety, and efficiency of anticoagulant therapy, but further research is needed to validate these findings and optimize implementation.

Summary: This retrospective study aims to present the dimensions and volume of the potential ramus block graft site and evaluate the impact of mandibular canal diameter and its position on the mandibular ramus block graft volume. The results suggest that the ramus can be a predictable donor site for bone augmentation procedures, but its volume is limited by neighboring anatomical structures. Therefore, a three-dimensional evaluation is important to prevent surgical complications.

Summary: Mucositis refers to the inflammatory injury of the digestive tract's mucous membranes. Probiotics, as a promising therapeutic modality, have shown effectiveness in treating chemotherapy-induced mucositis for head and neck malignancies. This meta-analysis evaluated the efficiency of probiotics in this treatment by reviewing relevant studies published from 2000 to 31 January 2023. The analysis revealed that probiotics effectively reduced the severity of mucositis symptoms.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate whether age is a significant risk factor for spinal nerve injury following selective neck dissection (SND) in patients with head and neck cancer. A retrospective cohort study was conducted and found that older patients are more likely to experience spinal nerve injury after SND than younger patients. These findings may help in the development of strategies to prevent spinal nerve injury in older patients undergoing SND for head and neck cancer.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of milling and 3D printing technologies on the accuracy of surgical guides. The results showed that the milled guides had smaller deviations in the contact surface with the mucosa compared to the 3D-printed guides. Additionally, the milling technology performed better in terms of axial and linear deviations of the sleeves' housings. Therefore, milling technology can provide more accurate surgical guides.
