Novel nano composite (ALW/CoFe2O4) adsorbent was synthesized from Apocynaceae leaf waste activated carbon (ALW) in combination with CoFe(2)O(4)by an auto combustion method for the removal of Reactive Red 141 dye and microorganisms against S. aureus, E. coli and C.albicans. The synthesized nano composite ALW/CoFe2O4 was characterized by SEM, EDX, BET, XRD, FTIR, TG & DSC and VSM. The results from these analytical techniques confirmed the aggregation of CoFe2O4 nano particles on the surface of ALW and VSM study showed its magnetic behavior. Subsequently, ALW/CoFe2O4 was adopted in batch mode adsorption studies by varying pH, adsorbent dosage, concentration and temperature. The adsorption efficiency was investigated under optimum conditions such as pH(6.5), adsorbent dosage (50mg), contact time (70min). The feasibility of adsorption was analyzed by fitting the data with pseudo first order, pseudo second order, Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm. The results showed that pseudo second order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm equation favour the adsorption of RR 141 on ALW/CoFe2O4. According to the thermodynamic study, it was very effective at higher temperatures and the thermodynamic parameters G(o), H-o and S-o were also evaluated for this adsorption. Furthermore, the antimicrobial activity of ALW/CoFe2O4 was tested by well diffusion method and compared with standard antibiotic. This ALW/CoFe2O4 exhibit good antimicrobial action with the zone of inhibition in the range of 10-17mm. The synthesized nano composite (ALW/CoFe2O4) was evaluated for antimicrobial activityagainst (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida ablicans),usingwell diffusion methodand compared with standard antibacterial (Streptomycin) and antifungal (Amphotericin B).The antibacterial activity of ALW/CoFe2O4 against S. aureus (range between from 11.83 +/- 0.23mm to 17.5 +/- 0.16mm) and (range between E. coli 10.5 +/- 0.40 to 17.0 +/- 0.41mm), while antifungistatic effectagainst C. albicans(range between 11.0 +/- 0.24 to 17.6 +/- 0.08), with different concentrations (100-500mg) From the obtained results the antimicrobial activity of synthesized ALW/CoFe2O4 more or less same in the range between 11 and 17.56mm of zone of inhibition.

Parth Sharma, Ritchu Babbar, Twinkle Sharma, Piyush Madaan, Sandeep Arora, Vishnu Nayak Badavath

Summary: Alzheimer's disease, characterized by the accumulation of neurotoxic amyloid-beta protein in the brain, can be effectively treated using disease-modifying anti-amyloid-beta immunotherapy. This therapy utilizes monoclonal antibodies to promote clearance and inhibit the aggregation and synthesis of amyloid-beta. Passive immunotherapy shows promise in treating this neurodegenerative disease, and further clinical trials are being conducted to improve its efficacy.

Physicochemical properties and photocatalytic activity of MoO3 nanostructures: Evaluation of structural, optical, vibrational, and morphological properties

T. Usha Devi, E. Ranjith Kumar, Mohanraj Kumar, Babu Balraj, Chandrasekar Sivakumar, Palanisamy Matheswaran, Narendhar Chandrasekar, Senthil Kumar Nagarajan

Summary: A simple co-precipitation technique was used to synthesize MoO3 nanostructures with different surfactants. The physicochemical characterization revealed that the MoO3 nanostructures, with or without the surfactants, exhibited an orthorhombic crystalline phase. The SDS-assisted MoO3 nanoparticles showed enhanced photocatalytic activity, degrading 95.4% of Rhodamine B molecules under UV light irradiation within 140 minutes. The trapping experiment revealed that the addition of two radicals significantly influenced the photocatalytic degradation percentage, reducing it to less than 50%.

The art of film: Perspective on neural clues to repeated attraction to movie watching

D. W. Zaidel

Summary: This article explores the possible neural basis of the repeated attraction to watching movies and pays tribute to Prof. Eran Zaidel, who made remarkable contributions to neuroscience and had a passion for movies. Movies, as an art form, involve the collaboration of diverse artists with specialized skills and creativity. The attention and attraction to artworks have deep biological roots. Despite extensive studies on the nature of art, the neural underpinnings of the repeated attraction to movies have been understudied. This perspective proposes clues from non-film research, suggesting the involvement of the mesolimbic reward pathway, brain regions sensitive to facial beauty, pictorial art aesthetics, and music-induced dopamine release in the repeated attraction.

Magnetic studies of Mn2+substituted Zn-ferrite nanoparticles: Role of secondary phases, bond angles and magnetocrystalline anisotropy

M. Deepty, G. Prasad, Ch Srinivas, S. A. V. Prasad, E. Ranjith Kumar, N. Krishna Mohan, Sher Singh Meena, Pramod Bhatt, D. L. Sastry

Summary: This study presents the magnetic properties of MnxZn1-xFe2O4 (x = 0.5, 0.6, 0.7) nanoferrite particles prepared by sol-gel auto combustion method. The deviation of the oxygen positional parameter (U) from the ideal value of 0.375 indicates cation redistribution in the ferrite systems. The variation of bond angles suggests strengthening of A-B superexchange interaction. The ferrite nanoparticles exhibit single domain state and superparamagnetism, with increasing saturation magnetization (Ms) and decreasing coercivity (Hc) with higher Mn2+ ion concentration.
