Summary: Inattention is a key symptom of ADHD, but the mechanisms underlying it are unclear. More specific approaches are needed to link disruptions in cognitive performance with ADHD behaviors. A pilot study found that even typically developing children did not maximally extract and combine information to maximize rewards in a cognitive task targeting attention selection mechanisms.

Summary: This study compared the serum levels of visfatin, irisin, and UCP1 between children with ADHD and healthy controls. The results showed a significant difference in UCP1 levels between the two groups, suggesting a potential association between UCP1 and childhood ADHD. However, there were no significant differences in visfatin and irisin levels. Additionally, the study found no correlation between these adipokines and neuropsychological tests.

Summary: This study compared the levels of mindfulness in children with ADHD and typically developing children, as well as their mothers. The findings showed that children with ADHD and their mothers had significantly lower levels of mindfulness compared to typically developing children and their mothers. This suggests that childhood mental disorders like ADHD can reduce mindfulness in children and their mothers.

Summary: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting 2% of children. A computer vision-based motion trajectory detection approach was proposed in this study to objectively extract movement features (MFs) from videos and evaluate children's activity levels in ASD assessment. The most relevant MFs were found to be the pixel distance (PD)-based MFs of all three body key points and the instantaneous pixel velocity (IPV)-based MFs of the right wrist key point in Table-play activity, which can be used as an auxiliary means for automating the evaluation of activity levels in ASD assessment.

Summary: This study examined COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among adolescents with and without ADHD and found that adolescents with ADHD were more hesitant and had less confidence in vaccine safety compared to those without ADHD. Social determinants such as race and family income influenced vaccine hesitancy and confidence in all adolescents. Social contextual processes interacted with ADHD status, with concerns about COVID-19 being associated with increased confidence in vaccine safety for adolescents without ADHD, and noncompliance with social distancing guidelines being associated with greater vaccine hesitancy for adolescents with ADHD.

Summary: Hyperfocus and flow are intense concentration experiences associated with reduced perception of irrelevant stimuli and improved task performance. Hyperfocus has been historically seen as a symptom of ADHD, autism, or schizophrenia, while flow is regarded as an enjoyable experience in positive psychology. Recent studies suggest that hyperfocus and flow may be the same phenomenon viewed from different perspectives.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the engagement and theoretical drivers of camouflaging behavior in the general population. The findings revealed a similar dimensional structure of camouflaging behavior in the general population compared to previous studies on autism. Social motivational factors, such as social comparison, public self-consciousness, internalized social stigma, and social anxiety, were identified as significant predictors of camouflaging behavior. These findings highlight the shared social coping experience of camouflaging in the general population, including autistic individuals.
