Summary: Ovarian cancer is a highly malignant tumor with a poor prognosis. Current treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, yield unsatisfactory results. Exosomes, a type of extracellular vesicle, have shown potential as effective carriers of immunotherapeutic drugs. They play a dual role in inhibiting and promoting tumor development and contain genes that could serve as biomarkers for ovarian cancer diagnosis and prognosis. However, further research is needed to explore the clinical application of exosome-based immunotherapy in ovarian cancer.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer (PC) is highly aggressive with a poor prognosis. The tumor microenvironment (TME) of PC is complex and diverse. Various cellular components in the microenvironment secrete different substances that promote tumor development. These substances can be released via exosomes, which are abundant extracellular vesicles (EVs) capable of carrying factors and enabling intercellular communication. MiRNAs are involved in regulating pathological and physiological processes and can be transported by exosomes to regulate the TME. Exosomal miRNAs hold promise as future targets for PC diagnosis and prognosis, offering potential new treatment strategies.

Summary: miRNAs are small non-coding ribonucleic acids that play key roles in cancer development and can be encapsulated in exosomes released into the circulatory system. Circulating exosome-derived miRNAs have the potential to replace conventional biomarkers for early cancer diagnosis.

Summary: This study found that miRNAs in salivary exosomes may serve as biomarkers for the prediction and diagnosis of lung cancer. By miRNA sequencing and qPCR validation, differentially expressed miRNAs between lung cancer and non-lung cancer groups were identified, which were associated with pathways related to cancer.

Summary: This study found that specific bile-derived noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) can serve as biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). In particular, bile exosomal miR-200c-3p showed good diagnostic value, while high levels of bile exosomal miR-200a-3p, miR-200c-3p, and serum exosomal miR-200c-3p were associated with adverse clinical outcomes.

Summary: The study proposes a novel strategy of using Affibody functionalized microbeads (AffiBeads) for exosome detection with a high degree of efficiency. Results showed that the Affibody probe had a detection limit of 15.6 ng exosomes per mL (~12 exosomes per AffiBead), providing a basis for early-stage cancer diagnosis by sensitive detection of low expression level markers on tumor-derived exosomes.

Summary: This study explores the diagnostic value of ABCA1-labeled exosomal miR-135a for Alzheimer's disease, especially in early stages. Results indicate that the levels of ABCA1 exosomes from HT-22 cells and neuron culture medium were significantly higher compared to RBCs and WBCs, showing promise for early AD diagnosis.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, with PDAC accounting for over 90% of cases and a low survival rate. MiRNAs have been identified as sensitive biomarkers in pancreatic cancer and are found in stable forms within exosomes. Further research on exosomal miRNAs is necessary for improved diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies.

Summary: This study investigated the plasma exosome miRNA profile in pediatric fulminant myocarditis (FM) using small RNA microarray. Differential expression of 266 miRNAs was observed, including 197 upregulated and 69 downregulated candidate genes. Through analysis, FM-specific target genes related to inflammation and/or the immune system were identified. CeRNA networks between cardiomyocytes and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were established, and specific miRNAs were validated as potential biomarkers for FM diagnosis.

Summary: Exosomal miRNAs have the potential to serve as biomarkers for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This study identified specific exosomal miRNAs that were differentially expressed in ESCC, and validated their expression levels in the plasma of healthy controls and ESCC patients. The results showed that plasma exosomal miR-205-5p, miR-429, and miR-375-3p could be potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of ESCC.

Summary: In this study, liquid biopsy technology was used to detect the expression levels of miR-205, CA125, HE4, and TCF21 genes in plasma exosomes of OC patients. The results showed that the expression level of miR-205 in plasma exosomes was significantly higher in OC patients compared to the benign and control groups, and it was elevated during advanced stages of OC and lymph node metastasis. This suggests that miR-205 in plasma exosomes is a valuable tumor biomarker for improving OC diagnosis.
