Summary: This study found that matrine has antiproliferative activity in NB cells by triggering autophagy through blocking the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway. In vivo experiments confirmed that matrine can inhibit NB tumor growth by altering phosphorylation levels and promoting autophagy. Therefore, matrine may be a potential therapeutic agent for treating NB.

Summary: This study found that HRK is lowly expressed in colorectal cancer tissues. For the first time, it was shown that HRK promotes apoptosis and inhibits proliferation of colorectal cancer cells by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. HRK represents a potential target for the treatment of colorectal cancer.

Summary: This study evaluated the interrelationship between HIV and autophagy using human ex vivo lymphoid tissue cultures as an HIV infection model. The results showed that HIV infection increased autophagy, and both enhancing and blocking autophagy could decrease HIV replication. Therefore, targeting the autophagic pathway could be a new therapeutic approach to treat HIV-1 infection. Ex vivo cultures of human lymphoid tissue are a suitable model to obtain further insights into the intricate relationship between HIV and autophagy.

Summary: The study found that RA, as a Fyn inhibitor, has anti-tumor effects in U251 and U343 glioma cells, significantly suppressing cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and inducing apoptosis. Additionally, RA exerts its cytotoxicity by modulating the PI3K/Akt/NF-kappa B signaling pathway.

Summary: COX7A1 plays an important role in the metabolism and therapy of lung cancer. It increases the sensitivity of lung cancer cells to a novel form of cell death called ferroptosis by enhancing the tricarboxylic acid cycle and the activity of complex IV in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. Additionally, COX7A1 suppresses mitochondrial dynamics, biogenesis, and mitophagy through blocking autophagic flux.

Summary: alpha-Solanine exhibits inhibitory effects on human choriocarcinoma cells, reducing colony formation, increasing cell apoptosis, and decreasing migration and invasion abilities. The mechanism may involve the downregulation of matrix metalloproteinases. Its suppressive effects were further confirmed in vivo, with smaller tumor volumes and promoted apoptosis in xenograft tumors.

Summary: Autophagy plays a crucial role in the development and function of trophoblast cells during pregnancy. The protein PLAC8 promotes autophagy in trophoblasts and contributes to their proliferation. Understanding the mechanism of PLAC8-induced autophagy may lead to novel treatment strategies for various gestational diseases.

Summary: The aberrant expression of micro-RNA has been shown to play a crucial role in the proliferation and tumorigenesis of various human cancers. MicroRNA-365 has been found to exhibit tumor-suppressive effects in human myeloma by regulating the expression of the molecular target HOXA9, contributing to inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis. The study suggests the potential of miR-365 as a therapeutic target against multiple myeloma.

Summary: This study investigated risk factors for intestinal necrosis in children with failed non-surgical reduction for intussusception. A longer duration of symptoms, high fibrinogen levels, and elevated D-dimer levels independently predicted intestinal necrosis. D-dimer levels had the best predictive value for intestinal necrosis.
