Summary: Despite the availability of healthier side items, many parents still make unhealthy choices for their children at fast food restaurants. Research shows that parents who engage in social comparison and have a malleable view of the self are more likely to conform to the norm in their social network, resulting in less healthy orders for their children. A social norm-based intervention was successful in increasing the proportion of parents choosing healthy side items in the retail environment.

Summary: The quality and quantity of food and energy intake have a significant impact on children's health. This study found that children aged 5-12 primarily base their food preferences and perceptions on the type/flavour of the food, disregarding the portion size and food form. This suggests that children in middle childhood rely mainly on the taste or type of food when making food choices, without considering other important attributes.

Summary: This study aimed to understand the familiarity and consumption patterns of local, national, and global foods among adults in a newly globalizing district in India. The results showed that the majority of respondents reported consuming local food items more frequently than national or global items. Accessibility, taste, and healthfulness were identified as key factors influencing food choice. Understanding these food choices can help inform efforts to improve nutrition as non-local food items become more prevalent in India's non-metropolitan areas.
