Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity, and is the third most common cancer in men and the second most common cancer in women worldwide. The incidence of CRC shows considerable variation among racially or ethnically defined populations in multiracial/ethnic countries. The tumorigenesis of CRC is either because of the chromosomal instability (CIN) or microsatellite instability (MIN) or involving various proto-oncogenes, tumor-suppressor genes, and also epigenetic changes in the DNA. In this review I have focused on the mutations and polymorphisms of various important genes of the CIN and MIN pathways which have been implicated in the development of CRC.

Summary: Interleukins (ILs), as important members of cytokines, play a crucial role in immune responses. They directly affect immune cell growth, activation, and differentiation, and contribute to inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses by interacting with a wide range of receptors. Mutations or polymorphisms in IL genes can have significant biological consequences and be associated with various diseases.

The Risk of Developing Lymphoma among Autoimmune Thyroid Disorder Patients: A Cross-Section Study

Mubarak Al-Mansour, Alaa Fawzi Maglan, Meral Khalid Altayeb, Laila Ali Faraj, Esraa Aman Felimban, Syed Sameer Aga, Mohammad Anwar Khan

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence and association of lymphoma in patients with autoimmune thyroid diseases. The study found a 7% prevalence of lymphoma, with most patients developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) being the most common subtype. The incidence of lymphoma was lower than previously reported, and all lymphoma patients had a history of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Further national studies are needed to explore the relationship between these two diseases.
