Summary: Targeted and nontargeted metabolomics can evaluate and detect global metabolite changes in biological systems. Direct infusion mass spectrometric analysis can simultaneously provide information on metabolites and lipids in chemically complex samples. The design and characterization of a direct infusion probe (DIP) is presented, which enables rapid metabolomics of chemically complex biological samples. The DIP allows for the acquisition of uniform MS signal for several minutes from low sample volumes, enhancing throughput.

Summary: Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) with Lu-177-labeled somatostatin analogs in patients with somatostatin receptor-expressing tumors is often performed using administration protocols prescribing a 30-min infusion time. The study investigated the safety of an infusion time of less than 5 min and found that this faster infusion method is safe and feasible in clinical practice, with mainly grade 1/2 fatigue and grade 1 nausea or vomiting as the clinical toxicities reported.

Summary: Rituximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody, is effective in treating severe pemphigus but can lead to opportunistic infections in immunosuppressed patients. This case report highlights a patient with pemphigus who developed disseminated Nocardia infection following rituximab treatment, ultimately resulting in death due to cardiac arrest. Prolonged rituximab therapy may lead to the development of nocardiosis, emphasizing the importance of weighing risks and benefits in all patients receiving rituximab.
