Summary: Glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GFRP) is popular for various applications due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, stiffness, fatigue resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and tailorable properties. Milling GFRP composites is challenging because of their heterogeneous nature and two-phase structure which result in high cutting forces and delamination. A statistical experiment using the Taguchi design of experiments was conducted to investigate the effect of machining settings on GFRP composite performance metrics.

Summary: The study focused on the optimization of machining parameters and their effects on delamination during drilling of pure GFRP composites and added GFRP composites with SiO2 and Al2O3. It was found that the delamination factors were larger in the added GFRP composites. Material was determined to have a greater influence on delamination than cutting parameters in the study considering material as a variable.

Summary: This study focused on numerical analysis of magnetic rollers with different magnet disc-to-steel disc width ratios using FEMM software. The optimized magnetic roller showed advantages in magnetic field value. Predictive analysis was conducted using artificial neural networks, and a lab-scale permanent magnet roller separator was developed based on the optimized roller.

Summary: This article investigates the cooling efficiency of a vortex tube equipped with a rectifier using the Taguchi method. Eight key control factors and levels were selected, and the experiments were designed using the Taguchi L18 orthogonal array. The results showed that the length of the blades had the most significant impact on the cooling performance, accounting for 36.9%.

Summary: This study evaluates the effects of cement type, coarse-to-fine aggregate ratio, water-to-cement ratio, curing age, and test temperature on sorptivity through experiments designed using Taguchi's method and analyzed by ANOVA. The water-to-cement ratio is found to be the most influential factor and new empirical models for sorptivity are developed based on the significant parameters. The models perform robustly across a wide range of mix-design conditions.

Summary: This paper investigates the use of GFRP strips to strengthen undamaged and damaged concrete beam models on the compressive and tensile sides. The delamination buckling mechanism of the GFRP strip is described through four-point bending tests, and theoretical models are developed to study this phenomenon.

Summary: This study optimizes the operating conditions that affect the current density of a PEMFC by applying the Taguchi Design of Experiment method. The optimal values for current density are obtained at an operating temperature of 313 K, a fuel flow rate of 50 lpm, an air flow rate of 300 lpm, and a fuel supply pressure of 1.5 bar. The contribution ratios of cell temperature, supply pressure, flowrate of fuel, and flowrate of air to the current density are 69.7%, 16.6%, 6.7%, and 0.9%, respectively.

Summary: A new drilling approach using controllable force for clamping the specimen was implemented to investigate the influence of cutting and support conditions on thrust force, delaminations, and burr factor in drilling woven GFRP composites. A series of ASTM tests were conducted to determine mechanical properties and predict the critical thrust force for delamination initiation. Accurate measurement of delamination and burr areas was achieved using an inexpensive image processing technique.
