Summary: Induction of labor using 200μg MVI was found to be effective and safe in obese pregnant women, with good maternal outcomes and low perinatal complications, even in high-risk pregnancies. The study highlights the importance of evaluating induction methods in obese populations to improve pregnancy outcomes.

Summary: The induction of labor at 39 weeks among obese women appears to decrease the risk of cesarean delivery, with a more pronounced effect seen in multiparas. Maternal outcomes were not compromised by induction, although there was an increased risk of instrumental deliveries.

Summary: The study revealed that the risk of stillbirth increases with gestational age in obese women, especially in late pregnancy. A higher BMI class is associated with a higher risk of stillbirth. Consideration should be given to early induction among these women to reduce the risk of stillbirth.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of ambient temperature on maternal complications, white blood cell count, newborn hearing, and neonatal jaundice. The results showed that temperature had a positive effect on APOs in early pregnancy, but a negative effect in mid-pregnancy. Temperature variation had a significant impact on APOs in the third trimester. Neonatal jaundice was negatively associated with temperature exposure, and high WBC was increased with temperature increase. This study highlights the importance of understanding the biological mechanisms behind the effects of ambient temperature on pregnancy outcomes.

Summary: This study examined 269 patients who underwent spinal surgery and divided them into overweight and non-overweight groups. The study found that overweight patients had longer surgical time, greater blood loss, and a higher rate of durotomy. This suggests that overweight increases perioperative complications of spinal surgery.

Summary: This study utilized three national databases to project the prevalence of obesity in the general population and primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients in the United States. It found that the prevalence of obesity increased over time in both the general population and primary TKA patients. By 2029, it is projected that the majority of primary TKA patients will be obese or morbidly obese. The study highlights the importance of dedicating resources and conducting research to improve outcomes in obese arthroplasty patients.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the impact of pre-pregnancy and postnatal BMI on the risk of Perinatal Depression and pregnancy outcomes. The findings showed that overweight and obesity were associated with higher risk of depression, higher neuroticism, and poorer subjective psychological well-being. They were also associated with lower education, more physical comorbidities, medical treatments, and complications during pregnancy.
