Summary: Trauma is the leading cause of death in patients younger than 45 years. Interventional radiology has been at the forefront of the shift towards nonoperative management of many blunt and penetrating injuries. Transcatheter embolization is an established technique in modern treatment of traumatic injuries, especially in extremities, pelvis, and solid organs.

Summary: The management of spleen injuries relies on the stability of the patient's hemodynamics. Preventive proximal splenic artery embolization (PPSAE) may benefit stable patients with high-grade splenic injuries. This study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of PPSAE in patients with high-grade blunt splenic trauma without vascular anomaly.

Summary: A coagulation-adaptable solid organ hemorrhage model in swine was developed for investigation of embolization techniques. Results show that coagulopathy had profound negative effects on the efficacy of coil and gelfoam in controlling bleeding, with potential implications for trauma and elective embolization procedures.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a significant increase in hemorrhage control by endovascular methods, which are now being more frequently used in both traumatic and non-traumatic cases. The concept of EVTM introduces a strategy of using endovascular and combined open-end methods in acute settings for hemodynamic instability in trauma and non-trauma patients.

Summary: This study aimed to describe different types of posttraumatic secondary deformity and address how to use orthognathic techniques to correct them. Through a retrospective review of patients who underwent orthognathic surgery during primary or secondary management of facial trauma, the study categorized the deformities and provided insights into their treatment.

Summary: This tutorial review introduces the principles for designing metallosupramolecular cages, with a focus on the design of large and lower symmetry cages. The characterization and identification of cages rely on complementary techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, and computational methods. Finally, examples of cages are discussed where these design principles and characterization techniques are applied for specific applications or functions of the cages.

Summary: This study evaluated the utilization and efficacy of various treatments for adult patients with splenic trauma, finding that most patients are managed with nonoperative management. Over time, the use of splenic artery embolization has increased while open surgery has declined, and mortality rates have improved for all treatment methods.

Summary: Single-shot transient absorption (SSTA) spectroscopy is a novel technique that enables efficient and stable measurement of systems undergoing irreversible processes. By encoding time delay into the probe beam, SSTA allows for accurate characterization of unstable systems that cannot be addressed using typical TA instruments.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic value of pelvic arteriography in patients with pelvic ring fractures and associated large hematomas, in both cases of positive or negative findings of contrast agent extravasation at emergency CT; in those patients with positive DSA subsequently treated with embolization, correlations with clinical-radiological parameters were investigated. Overall, the study found that pelvic arteriography can be a useful tool in diagnosing arterial hemorrhage in patients with pelvic ring fractures and concomitant large hematomas, even if CT findings are negative. Rating: 7/10.

Summary: Oocyte cryopreservation is vital for preserving the genetic potential of individual females, but recent outcomes have been poor. Improvement in freezing technology and development of novel cryodevices can help mitigate cryoinjury and enhance the outcomes. Further study and optimization of techniques are required to improve success rates, especially for different species.

Summary: This study examines the utilization of angiography and embolization in trauma care across Trauma Centers in the United States. The findings show that over half of the adult trauma patients underwent angiography, with 55.4% of them also receiving embolization. The pelvis, spleen, and liver were the most common sites for embolization.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the rate and type of adverse events that occur in patients undergoing splenic artery embolization (SAE) for blunt splenic injury (BSI) and compare this with previous data. The study found that SAE continues to be a useful adjunct in the nonoperative management (NOM) of BSI, although complications continue to occur.
