Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) in quilombolas in rural communities in Brazil and identify associated factors. The study involved structured interviews and the use of a Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). The findings showed a high prevalence of CMD among female quilombolas, those with lower levels of education, lower family income, experiences of discrimination in health services, and individuals with certain health conditions. This study highlights the importance of developing mental health care policies for vulnerable populations, such as quilombola communities.

Summary: This study examined how men maintain internal and external connections while experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one. The study found that men tend to focus on maintaining internal connections rather than external connections in their grieving process, and there was no significant correlation between the maintenance of internal and external connections and grief mediators.

Summary: Mountains are crucial for Neotropical biodiversity, and the diversification of the campos rupestres (CR) vegetation in South America still poses unanswered questions. This study used genomic data and sampling of Bulbophyllum orchids to explore their evolutionary relationships and biogeography. The results suggest a complex history with unrecognized diversity within some previously recognized species, raising questions about species barriers and diversification paths. These findings provide insights into the diversification patterns of Neotropical sky-island communities.

Summary: Olfactory changes are common and have a significant impact on quality of life. The CCCRC test is a cheap and easy-to-administer test for assessing olfactory function, but its validity for the Brazilian population has not been widely evaluated. In this study, the CCCRC test was adapted for the Brazilian population and showed good reproducibility and similar normality values compared to other countries.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze which technological variables, derived from the use of electronic devices, predict academic stress and its dimensions in nursing students. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted with 796 students from six universities in Peru. The SISCO scale was used, and four logistic regression models were estimated for analysis, with variable selection by steps. Results showed that 87.6% of the participants had a high level of academic stress; the duration of electronic device use, screen brightness, age, and sex were associated with academic stress and its three dimensions; the position of electronic device use was associated with the total scale and the stressor and reaction dimensions. Lastly, the distance between the face and the electronic device was associated with the total scale and the reaction dimension. In conclusion, technological variables and sociodemographic characteristics predict academic stress in nursing students. It is suggested to optimize computer use time, regulate screen brightness, avoid sitting in inadequate positions, and pay attention to screen distance in order to reduce academic stress during distance learning.

Summary: This study explores the cost management relationship between agricultural cooperatives and investor-owned firms (IOFs), and finds issues of lack of trust and cooperation. The results show that cooperatives use functional quality and the futures market to increase profits and reduce uncertainty. However, there is also opportunistic behavior within cooperatives, leading to a lack of foresight among producers regarding future outcomes.

Summary: Monitoring the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater can predict the increase in COVID-19 cases in advance and serve as an early warning system. Wastewater-based epidemiology, which includes symptomatic, pre-symptomatic, and asymptomatic individuals, provides valuable data to contain the spread of the virus.

Summary: The study evaluated the levels of protodioscin in Brachiaria spp., comparing differences between B. decumbens and B. brizantha, and reviewed the literature on toxicity mechanisms and treatment methods. The results suggest that Brachiaria spp. should be avoided in pastures where sheep are grazing to prevent poisoning incidents.

Summary: This article analyzes discourses published in the press between 1890 and 1920 about the crisis of domestic service in Rio de Janeiro. These discourses, elaborated by intellectuals and representing the employers' point of view, depicted a negative portrayal of servants and highlighted various issues faced by the domestic service. The hypothesis argued in this article is that this phenomenon reflected an escalation of conflicts between employers and employees, as well as an increase in daily resistance by workers to secure certain rights. This occurred against the backdrop of the decline of traditional forms of social domination and the widespread adoption of wage labor.
