Accumulating evidence suggests that high-endothelial venules (HEVs) represent major gateways for the infiltration of lymphocytes within neoplastic lesions. However, the origin of these vessels in human neoplasms remains elusive. We have recently discovered a link between lymphotoxin beta-producing dendritic cells and tumor-associated HEVs.
