Summary: Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, and early diagnosis and management are crucial. The European Glaucoma Society (EGS) has made efforts to improve education, training, and knowledge in the field. The FEBOS-Glaucoma examination, organized by the EGS in collaboration with the EBO, has been effective in increasing overall knowledge. This article discusses the projects and measures introduced by the EGS.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate and understand the usage of seat belts in buses. Through observation, focus group discussions, and a web survey, it was found that seat belt usage can be improved, especially in regional and commercial bus traffic. The study also identified reasons for non-usage, such as discomfort and concerns about getting stuck. Recommendations were provided to increase seat belt usage.

Summary: This study evaluated the carbonation behavior of Supersulfated cement (SSC) concrete after 8 years of natural exposure. The carbonation depths, changes in hydration products, and microstructures of SSC concrete with different water-to-cement ratios were examined. The results showed that the carbonation rate of SSC concrete with a C30 grade was 1.02 mm/year, while the rate for SSC concrete with a C50 grade was 0.54 mm/year. The study provides insights into the carbonation behavior of SSC concrete and can serve as a reference for future research on developing a carbonation model for SSC concrete under complex environmental conditions.

Summary: Populus spp. are economically significant trees used for wood and fiber production, as well as rehabilitation of degraded lands. The adventitious rooting ability is crucial for plant survival and is genotype-dependent, with variations observed among species in the Populus genus. Understanding the genetic and physiological mechanisms promoting this trait is essential for successful commercial deployment.

Summary: The olive family, particularly Olea europaea L., is widely used for olive oil production. Different parts of the olive tree contain bioactive compounds such as oleuropein, apigenin, hydroxytyrosol, etc. Researchers have utilized various extraction methods to increase oleuropein yield, including maceration, soxhlet, microwave-assisted, ultrasonication, and supercritical fluid methods. This review focuses on in vitro and in vivo studies exploring the nutraceutical properties of oleuropein, revealing its potential in treating obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular complications, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, inflammation, microbial infections, and oxidation. The comprehensive literature provided in this review contributes to the scientific community's understanding of oleuropein's absorption, metabolism, bioavailability, extraction techniques, and nutraceutical perspectives.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of 339 participants aged 16-35 who used the levonorgestrel 52-mg intrauterine device (IUD) for more than 8 years. No pregnancies occurred during years 9 and 10, and only one participant experienced partial expulsion during year 10. No serious adverse events were noted, and a significant number of participants reported no bleeding or spotting during years 9 and 10. The levonorgestrel 52-mg IUD demonstrated continued efficacy and safety in this small population during years 9 and 10 of use.
