Deficiency of Lnx1 leads to neuronal activity disorders and social memory impairments, along with cognitive defects, in mice. It is found that Lnx1 deletion causes NMDA receptor hypofunction, disrupting the Lnx1-NMDAR-EphB2 complex and affecting synaptic function and social memory.

Summary: In order to accelerate SDS-PAGE, an optimized version of the technique was proposed using experimental tuning and theoretical description. The resulting system involved diluting the gel buffer, supplementing with glycine, and applying a higher voltage, reducing runtime from 90 to 18 min. Despite the higher voltage, band resolution did not decrease compared to the original method. This acceleration approach can be applied to other variants of SDS-PAGE.

Summary: The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of adding an enzyme complex to diets with different levels of DDGS on the performance and nutrient utilization of broiler chickens. The inclusion of DDGS decreased the performance of the chickens, but a DDGS inclusion level of up to 8% improved carcass percentage. The addition of the enzyme complex improved feed conversion ratio.

Summary: Sea cucumbers are convenient models for studying regeneration mechanisms. The study analyzed the content of a stable protein complex in sea cucumbers Eupentacta fraudatrix, showing it contains 15 proteins with molecular masses >10 kDa and 21 small proteins and peptides with MMs 2.0-8.6 kDa. The formation of this stable complex is due to bridges formed by metal ions, electrostatic contacts, and hydrogen bonds.

This study found that various factors such as age class, sex, health status, and geographical location contribute to the variation in plasma protein fractions of free-ranging populations of Blanding's turtles. Adult females had the highest concentration of many protein fractions, likely due to reproductive activity, while juveniles had lower protein concentrations.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the relationship, difference, and diagnostic discordance between blood total calcium concentration (tCa) and ionized calcium concentration (iCa) in a population of client-owned chelonian patients. The results showed that iCa decreased with increasing albumin concentration and was lower in chelonians with disorders of the reproductive tract. Total calcium and bound calcium concentrations increased with increasing albumin concentration and were higher in females and in chelonians with disorders of the reproductive tract. Approximately 57.7% of the chelonians had a different diagnosis of calcium status based on tCa and iCa results. A cutoff value of 2.2 mmol/L for bound calcium could differentiate chelonians with and without disorders of the reproductive tract.

Summary: The study reveals that HIV-1 negative factor (Nef) protein antagonizes SERINC5 by redirecting it to endosomes and lysosomes for degradation through a kinase complex involving cyclin K (CycK) and cyclin-dependent kinase 13 (CDK13). Phosphorylation of serine 360 (S360) in SERINC5 by CycK/CDK13 is crucial for Nef-mediated downregulation of SERINC5 and its antiviral activity. Interaction between Nef and SERINC5 is enhanced by S360 phosphorylation, leading to SERINC5 destruction by the endocytic machinery.
