Purpose: To support nurse practitioners in their encounters with aging male patients with signs and symptoms related to the decline of male sex hormones. Data sources: An electronic search was conducted on studies from 2006 to 2013 from the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and related health resources websites. The search terms used included male menopause, andropause, androgen deficiency, testosterone deficiency, late-onset hypogonadism, and testosterone replacement therapy. Relevant studies in English were selected for an integrative review. Conclusions: Androgen deficiency syndrome has been overlooked in clinical settings. However, there has been an increase in health needs related to low testosterone levels. A diagnosis should be made carefully, considering other possible causes of the problems as well as the decision to initiate testosterone treatment (TT) and monitoring. In this article, the current awareness of androgen deficiency syndrome, pathophysiology of aging men's sex organ, clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, diagnostic strategy, clinical management, monitoring, and referral plans are discussed. Implications for practice: The rapidly growing aged population in our society makes androgen deficiency syndrome a growing issue that needs to be understood, adequately diagnosed, and carefully managed by nurse practitioners.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the causal attributions of breast cancer among survivors and their relationship to quality of life. Findings indicated stress and worry, as well as diet or eating habits, were believed to be the main causes of breast cancer. Additionally, being diagnosed at an older age, receiving chemotherapy, and holding nonbehavioral causal attributes were significantly associated with lower quality of life.

Physiologic Changes during Sponge Bathing in Premature Infants

Jongcheul Lee, Yaelim Lee

Summary: This study examined physiological reactions of premature infants during sponge bathing in the NICU and found a significant drop in body temperature post-bathing, but no significant changes in heart rate or oxygen levels. To minimize physiological instability during bathing, care providers should aim to complete bathing quickly and make it a pleasant stimulus for infants.

Comparison of pregnancy stress, impact and fear of COVID-19 between working and non-working pregnant women in Korea

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the pregnancy stress, impact, and fear of COVID-19 among working and non-working pregnant women in Korea. The study explored the influencing factors of pregnancy stress considering the pandemic situation in each group. The findings showed that working pregnant women had more pregnancy stress, particularly in concerns about labor and delivery and caring for infant. Non-working pregnant women experienced more negative impact of COVID-19 on their pregnancy experience, especially in concerns related to prenatal care, obtaining living supplies and giving birth during the pandemic situation. The study suggests the need for tailored prenatal management, education, and social supports to address the psychological distress in each group.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile-based intervention called "Self-care for Pregnant Women at Work (SPWW)" in enhancing the self-care practices of pregnant women who work. The results of this randomized repeated measures design showed that the intervention had a positive effect in reducing pregnancy stress and promoting health practices. Therefore, developing educational content and methods specifically targeted at pregnant women in the workplace would be beneficial.
