Summary: Slot antennas are popular microwave antennas and slotted waveguides are used in high frequency radar systems. A slot in an infinite ground plane is equivalent to a dipole in free space. This study demonstrates how the analytical technique of slot antennas can be used for the design of high-frequency THz slot antennas. Numerical simulations validate the performance parameters predicted by the analytical technique, showing that even at THz frequencies, useful results can be obtained. Additionally, gradually moving the slot position from the centerline improves the antenna's performance.

Summary: Electromagnetic waves are widely used in modern communication systems, but traditional electromagnetic circuits may encounter issues in large-scale systems. Therefore, a new method based on wave or field interference is proposed to achieve interaction among devices. This method can spatially accomplish signal processing and has universal applicability to various physical wave devices and systems.

Summary: This article introduces a novel 60 GHz planar antenna system designed for radiative near-field line-of-sight (LOS) link using orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing. The system consists of a radial line slot array (RLSA) fed by a Butler network, capable of emitting three different OAM beams through progressive phase states. A modified Laguerre-Gaussian aperture distribution is proposed for focusing the beams in the near region to extend the link range.

Summary: In this study, a finite element model (FEM) is proposed to quantify the near-field interactions, and to investigate the edge effect and antenna effect in THz s-SNOM. Our results indicate that the proposed model can give us a better understanding of the near-field interactions and direct the parameter design of the probe for THz s-SNOM.

Summary: A novel one-port near-field antenna measurement technique utilizing a small wire scatterer and a two-dimensional phase unwrapping method was proposed. The obtained far-field radiation pattern was successfully compensated for better measurements, and the validation results showed good agreement with those from a conventional commercial anechoic chamber, especially in the central region.

Summary: This paper proposes a design of multibeam antennas with customized elevation angles based on near-field magnetic field coupling of metamaterials. By adjusting the structural parameters and pitch angles, the elevation angle of the radiation main lobes can be customized. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the design and the capability of obtaining multiple-beam radiation with customized elevation angles.

Summary: This article presents the analysis of Archimedean spiral slots using the theory of characteristic modes. Purely magnetic characteristic modes are employed to study the behavior of a spiral slot etched in an infinite ground plane. The effect of spiral geometry parameters on the characteristic modes and guidelines for selecting appropriate slot dimensions are investigated and provided.

Summary: The magnetic near-field probes are suitable tools for measuring the magnetic field level of small electromagnetic interference sources, useful for pre-compliance EMC measurements and debugging tasks. This article focuses on analyzing the performance of a low-cost H-field NFP designed with a standard PCB stack-up, using FEM simulation models to evaluate frequency range and sensitivity. The numerical results show a close agreement between simulated and experimental results, with the NFP-PCB exhibiting a flat response from 180 MHz to 6 GHz.

Summary: A millimeter-wave self-progressive near-field focusing 2-D full frequency scanning ridge-gap waveguide slot array antenna is proposed, which uses adjacent linear NFF leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) connected in a double layer folded structure to achieve self-progressive phase shift feed network. The antenna design allows for high phase progression without increasing antenna area based on a high-density self-progressive feed network using ridge-gap waveguide. The fabricated antenna prototype is verified through experimental testing and shows promising results for near-field detection applications.

Summary: This article introduces an all-fiber near-field optical tweezer for stable trapping of nanoparticles. The device uses a laser beam that has been totally reflected three times on a fiber tip to generate an evanescent field on the fiber end-face, trapping nanoparticles in water. Experimental results demonstrate that this all-fiber near-field optical tweezer can trap fluorescent particles as small as 100 nanometers in diameter with insignificant temperature rise.

Summary: The electromagnetic field is a fundamental natural phenomenon produced by electric charges, as described by Maxwell's equations. This article discusses distinguishing the magnetic component of an electromagnetic field and proposes a new structure to respond to this aspect, suggesting definitions for the figure of merit and efficiency factor of magnetic antennas and probes. The new structure offers higher figure of merit and practical feasibility without the need for active devices or balun transformers.
