Summary: This study evaluated the bioenergy production potential of Halimione portulacoides for the phytoremediation of nutrient-rich simulated wastewater. The study found that the roots and canes of Halimione portulacoides have high carbon content and low ash content, making them suitable for bioenergy production. The nutrient treatments did not have a significant impact on bioenergy production or biomass characteristics. This suggests that Halimione portulacoides can be used as a source of bioenergy in water phytoremediation.
