Summary: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of hospitalization, death and disability in Europe. Despite our knowledge of cardiovascular risk factors, morbidity and mortality remain high, resulting in significant social and economic costs. Diet is a potentially modifiable risk factor, and the relationship between the gut microbiome, diet, and cardiovascular diseases is complex and not fully understood.

Summary: The use of Android devices has increased significantly in recent years, but the availability of third-party channels for downloading apps has created opportunities for malware. To address this issue, a hybrid Android malware detection approach combining dynamic and static strategies is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate high accuracy in malware detection.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between turnover intention and related constructs in an abusive supervision climate. The results showed that abusive supervision, workplace incivility, and bullying have a positive effect on turnover intention as hypothesized. Abusive supervision was found to have a significant and positive effect on workplace incivility and bullying, with partial mediating effects of workplace bullying, incivility, and ostracism on the relationship between abusive supervision and turnover intention.

Summary: This article examines the process of deaf individuals identifying as culturally Deaf and how this process interacts with other social identities such as sexuality and race. Through analyzing qualitative data from five Deaf, gay, and lesbian individuals with diverse racial backgrounds, the study reveals the impact of Goffman's concepts on shaping Deaf identity formation. The research also uncovers a bidirectional relationship between affiliation and obtrusiveness in the context of becoming Deaf within a minority culture.

Summary: Proximal spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disorder characterized by motor neuron loss and skeletal muscle atrophy due to deficiency of the essential survival motor neuron (SMN) protein. Therapeutics aimed at increasing SMN protein levels have shown efficacy in treating SMA, but the mechanisms underlying motor neuron loss are still not well understood. Genetics and biochemistry have provided insights into SMA and SMN, from identifying genetic regions to developing potential treatments, but further research is needed to determine critical pathways in SMA.

Summary: This article explores the positionalities of second-generation diaspora Eritreans and their ambivalent attitudes towards their ancestral homeland and their residence country, considering the influence of their parents' history on identity formation. The study is based on long-term observation, narrative interviews, and social media analysis to understand their self-perceptions, which are shaped by competing narratives about Eritrea's past and present. The findings suggest that the positionalities of young Eritrean diasporans are diverse and complex, and cannot be easily categorized as either government supporters or opposition activists, as often portrayed in the media.

Summary: This study explores the role of scuba diving therapy in growth experiences of ex-servicemen, focusing on the potential positive transformation that can occur when individuals navigate mental health challenges related to combat trauma. Five male British ex-service personnel with a diagnosis of PTSD who identified with posttraumatic growth (PTG) were recruited for in-depth qualitative analysis, with all participants reporting positive mental health benefits from diving. Themes such as human connection, meaningful leisure, embodiment, and the calm emerged as key factors contributing to the reduction of PTSD symptoms and the facilitation of posttraumatic growth.

Summary: The recent COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the role of cytokines and cytokine storm in the pathophysiology and mortality of the disease. Similar dysregulated immune responses are seen in polytrauma patients, affecting tissue healing and multiple organ systems. The expanding field of osteoimmunology should enhance the orthopaedic community's understanding of how immune responses impact patient outcomes.
