Summary: This paper discusses the concept of bordered words and mutually bordered word pairs, and provides definitions and recurrence formulas. The research shows that the number of mutually bordered words is finite for a given length and alphabet, and the expected shortest overlap between word pairs is bounded above.

Summary: The paper investigates a set of user-specific, non-orthogonal, binary spreading sequences for uplink grant-free NOMA, and conducts a probabilistic analysis to search for a permutation set for Golay sequences with low coherence. Simulation results show that the PAPR of multicarrier signals transmitted via these spreading sequences is significantly lower, and the performance of CS-based joint channel estimation and multiuser detection using these sequences is superior to other types of sequences.

Summary: This study formalizes the task of clustering an RS-dataset as an optimization problem, using a tree structure and edit-distance-like measure to quantify the similarity between records. An algorithm is developed to identify representative records and construct clusters, which are shown to be compact and well-separated in experiments, preserving meaningful relationships between demographics and sequences of diagnosis codes while being efficient and scalable.

Summary: DNA is an attractive medium for long-term digital data storage, but errors frequently occur during synthesis, amplification, and sequencing processes, which hinders its widespread use. This paper proposes a novel coding schema called DNA-LC to reduce and correct errors in DNA storage. The coding mode has a higher error correction capability and the decoding algorithm has been implemented in practice.

Summary: In this work, a spread spectrum (SS) based audio watermarking scheme is proposed to resist against large-scale cropping (LSC) attacks more robustly. The scheme embeds the chaotic encrypted watermark into transform coefficients using DWT-GBT-SVD and combines m-sequences with the encrypted watermark to generate the watermarking key. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has a superior performance in restoring the complete watermark and exhibits significantly high robustness against LSC attacks.

Summary: This paper presents a method for rapid recognition of dynamical patterns based on deterministic learning. The method involves modeling, defining similarities, constructing dynamical estimators, and providing general conditions for accurate and rapid recognition in a sampled-data framework. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in quickly identifying test patterns corresponding to training patterns.

Summary: This work focuses on cross-backstepping control for a type of uncertain non-strict-feedback non-linear systems with time-varying partial state constraints. A systematic approach is used to develop control laws for nonlinear systems with matched and unmatched uncertainties, leading to overall better performance compared to existing methods. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Summary: Quantum synchronizable codes (QSCs) are special quantum error-correcting codes that correct both quantum noise on qubits and misalignment in block synchronization. The letter presents a family of QSCs constructed from cyclic codes, achieving the best attainable misalignment tolerance. Two classes of specific constructions of QSCs are provided, with good error-correcting capability towards bit errors and phase errors.

Summary: This paper investigates the construction of high-rate linear storage codes in graphs, relying on coset graphs of binary linear codes. Necessary conditions for high-rate codes are derived. The correction of multiple erasures in codewords is also addressed, with recovery guarantees based on graph expansion properties. Connections between linear storage codes and quantum CSS codes, bootstrap percolation, and contagion spread in graphs are pointed out, and several open problems are formulated.

Summary: This study examines the ability of variable-length constrained sequence codes in determining codeword boundaries upon initial receipt of the sequence and in recovering synchronization when lost due to errors. A guided partial extension algorithm is proposed for constructing codes with high synchronization probabilities, showing excellent synchronization properties in simulations.

Summary: DNA-based data storage, as a powerful tool for storing digital information, has been continuously developed and received more attention. In this paper, the authors propose a segmented-edit error-correcting code called DNA-LM code, which has a systematic structure and can efficiently recover information from large-scale DNA strands. It does not require the endpoint of the received segment as prerequisite information for decoding. Furthermore, the authors generalize the decoding algorithm to handle duplicated DNA strands while maintaining linear time complexity in the codeword length and the number of duplications.

Summary: This paper addresses the design of phase-coded sequences for radar systems with good aperiodic autocorrelation properties. A rank-one constraint optimization problem is formulated and solved using an iterative algorithm based on the sequential rank-one constraint relaxation framework. The proposed method outperforms previous works in terms of peak sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio for polyphase and binary phase codes, as demonstrated by simulation results.

Summary: The world is currently facing the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has led to various serious problems, including cardiovascular complications. The mechanisms of coronavirus causing dysfunction of the cardiac autonomic nervous system (ANS) are not yet fully understood. This study focuses on analyzing different entropy measures as potential dimensions of cardiovascular data, showing significant differences in entropy measurements between healthy controls and COVID-19 patients. This research contributes to the understanding of the relationship between COVID-19 severity and ANS dysfunction, opening up avenues for further studies in this area.

Summary: This study identified two major phenotypes of doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy (DCM) in rats, with phenotype 1 characterized by left ventricular dilatation, reduced ejection fraction and increased NT-proBNP, and phenotype 2 characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy with preserved ejection fraction and moderate NT-proBNP increase. Both phenotypes exhibited a genetic shift to a new-born program.

Summary: This paper analyzes and compares different methods for copula density estimation by mapping the copula density into a time series and applying Sample Entropy estimates. The results show bias in each estimation method but also identify stable working regions for each case. Furthermore, analyzing the dependency level time series reveals information not extractable from classical time series data.
