Summary: This study provides a proteomic profile of LANA(SIM)-associated proteins in hypoxia, revealing two major pathways significantly enriched for 28 LANA(SIM)-associated proteins responding to hypoxia – cytoskeleton organization and DNA/RNA binding and processing pathways. This discovery advances understanding of the collaboration between viral infection and hypoxic stress in inducing viral persistence and tumorigenesis.

Summary: Hypoxia induces KSHV reactivation by preventing the degradation of essential cellular machinery, such as RNA Pol II, required for successful viral gene synthesis. The virus manipulates the cellular microenvironment to ensure efficient functioning of the transcription machinery during hypoxic conditions.

Summary: This article reports a case of a novel mutation in the CIITA gene, presenting with late and isolated severe infection. The case highlights that isolated severe meningoencephalomyelitis may be a manifestation of primary immunodeficiency.

Summary: This study reveals that DNA damage signaling can produce immunogenic antigens by utilizing the machinery of PRT/NMD. DNA damage upregulates HLA class I antigen presentation, and antigen production is essential. Additionally, the pioneer translation factor CBP20, which initiates nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, plays a critical role in antigen production.

Summary: The UL49.5 protein encoded by HSV-1 has a unique structure with a flexible extracellular N-terminus, a long transmembrane alpha-helix, and a short unordered C-terminus, unlike the homologs from other herpesviruses. This structural information sheds light on the lack of biological activity of UL49.5 in inhibiting the TAP-dependent antigen presentation pathway.

Summary: The regulatory role of TFEB in modulating the presentation of Leishmania antigens was investigated in this study. Silencing TFEB enhanced host immune response, increased the number of CD8(+)T cells, and reduced parasite burden. These findings have important implications for the development of therapeutic strategies against visceral leishmaniasis.

Summary: This study investigated the seroprevalence of antibodies to specific SARS-CoV-2 and other betacoronavirus antigens in individuals recovering from COVID-19 or those who have never been infected. The results showed that antibody levels were positively correlated with disease severity, and certain immunogenic peptides were associated with milder illness or protection from symptomatic infection. Cross-reactivity with other coronaviruses was observed, suggesting potential implications for immunity.
