Summary: Fear extinction training gradually changes the vHIP-PL connectivity, allowing for fear suppression. In the absence of fear suppression from the vHIP, signals from the BL play a dominant role, resulting in heightened fear levels.

Summary: Adrenaline enhances contextual fear memory consolidation by activating liver & beta2-adrenoceptors causing transient hyperglycemia. However, insulin-induced hypoglycemia may hinder the separation of each hormone's action in contextual fear memory. In this study, an adrenaline-deficient mouse model was used to investigate if insulin administration requires subsequent increases in plasma adrenaline for the consolidation of contextual fear memory.

Summary: The study reveals that KIF3B plays a crucial role in mediating contextual fear memory in the prelimbic cortex, as upregulation of KIF3B expression and lentiviral-mediated knockdown of KIF3B both have significant effects on memory consolidation and extinction behavior. Additionally, depletion of KIF3B leads to increased spine density in prelimbic neurons, further highlighting the importance of KIF3B in synaptic plasticity and memory formation.

Summary: Adrenaline and glucose released during stress may strengthen contextual fear memory. Glucose can enhance contextual fear memory independently of adrenaline in Ad-deficient mice, possibly through increased gene expression in the hippocampus. Additionally, adrenaline and glucose may act synergistically to strengthen contextual fear memory.

Summary: Forniceal deep brain stimulation (DBS) in RTT mice improves learning and memory for a prolonged period, and can be maintained through repeated DBS. Stimulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression correlates with improvements in hippocampal neurogenesis and memory benefits.

Summary: In this study, the effects of intraoperative and postoperative low-dose intravenous pumping dexmedetomidine on PTSD among patients with trauma undergoing emergency surgery were evaluated. A total of 310 trauma patients participated in the analysis. The results showed that the incidence of PTSD was significantly lower in the dexmedetomidine group compared to the control group, and the CAPS-5 score was also lower. Therefore, dexmedetomidine can effectively reduce the risk of PTSD in trauma patients.

Summary: Retrieval of fear memories induces two opposing processes, reconsolidation and extinction. This study investigates the role of NMDA receptor signaling and neurogenesis in memory retrieval and the maintenance of remote fear memory. The findings suggest that downregulation of NMDA receptor signaling and inhibition of neurogenesis can weaken the original fear memory, providing potential insights for improving exposure-based therapy for PTSD.

Summary: This study reveals that the extinction of Pavlovian contextual fear memory is impaired in aged mice, which is associated with a reduction in the efficacy of excitatory synaptic transmission onto the pyramidal neurons of the infralimbic prefrontal cortex (ilPFC). Restoring the reduced excitation can restore contextual fear memory extinction. This finding may potentially contribute to the development of therapeutic approaches for cognitive decline in aging.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of acute strength exercise on memory consolidation and found that exercise can promote the consolidation of weak memory. This effect is dependent on the activation of NMDA-receptors, and exercise also modulates the overexpression of BDNF and synapsin I through the activation of NMDA-receptors.

Summary: This study investigated the role of the hippocampus in resilience and PTSD in the early aftermath of trauma, finding that greater hippocampal activation correlated with greater resilience and fewer PTSD symptoms. The results suggest the importance of hippocampus-dependent context processing as a potential mechanistic target for novel early interventions in PTSD.

Summary: Fear extinction (FExt) is used for patients with PTSD, but fear can persist. The study investigated the role of DA on D2 receptors in promoting FExt, and the effects of IN-DA on conditioned fear-induced antinociception. IN-DA showed potential as a pharmacological tool for PTSD therapy.

Summary: The study revealed that an ERK-dependent memory transition process after retrieval regulates the switch of memory phases from reconsolidation to extinction by preventing the induction of reconsolidation. This process involves distinct molecular and cellular signatures in brain regions related to fear memory, offering insights into the mechanism of memory transition.

Summary: The study investigated the ameliorating effects of a natural antioxidant formula (NAF) on a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cognitive dysfunction model in rats. The results showed that NAF reduced brain inflammation and increased the number of M2-type cells. Additionally, NAF facilitated fear extinction learning and restored neural progenitor cell numbers and reelin+ hilar interneurons in the hippocampus.
