Summary: A La-TEG complex was synthesized and characterized by various analytical techniques. The complex showed significant antimicrobial activity against six bacterial strains and one yeast. Miramistin was found to enhance the antimicrobial effect of La-TEG, and the MICs for La-TEG and Miramistin were determined to be 0.058 mg/mL and 7.8 μg/mL, respectively.

Summary: Copper acquisition and delivery are important processes, but cellular levels of copper must be controlled due to its potential toxicity. The COPT1 protein is involved in high affinity copper uptake in Arabidopsis cells, and the residue His43 in its extracellular domain is critical for this activity. Substitution of His43 with certain amino acids almost inactivated the transport function of COPT1, indicating that it does not serve as a copper ligand. Deletion of all extracellular metal-binding residues blocked copper-stimulated degradation but did not affect the subcellular distribution and multimerization of COPT1. Mutation of His43 to certain amino acids retained transporter activity but led to protein instability and degradation in Arabidopsis cells.

Summary: Two silver(I) complexes with biologically relevant heterocyclic ligands, pyrrole and furan-2-carboxylic acid, were synthesized and characterized. Their solubility and stability were confirmed in biological test solutions using 1H NMR spectroscopy. The complexes showed significant antimicrobial and anticancer activity, with high selectivity against specific microorganisms and cell lines. The importance of these complexes in biomedical research is rated as 8 out of 10.

Summary: This study reports two half-sandwich ruthenium complexes based on the macrocyclic 1,4,7-triazacyclononane ligand, showing different catalytic activities and stabilities in water oxidation. One complex retained high stability and activity, while the other underwent deactivation through ligand dissociation.

Summary: The aim of this study was to synthesize 16 complexes of Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), and Zn (II) metal ions from heterocyclic hydrazone ligands and evaluate their antimicrobial activity. Various physicochemical and spectroscopic techniques were used to characterize the synthesized compounds, which showed octahedral geometry and good thermal stability. The compounds were tested against bacterial and fungal pathogens, and complex 16 was found to be most active against B. subtilis, while complexes 13, 14, and 15 were most efficient against C. albicans. Computational studies further demonstrated the biological efficacy of the ligand and its complexes.

Summary: In this study, new metal complexes were synthesized and characterized. The results showed that some of these complexes exhibited potent antimicrobial and antitubercular activities, as well as good antioxidant properties. Furthermore, in silico ADME studies indicated that these compounds have the potential to be administered orally as active drugs.

Summary: The urgent need for innovative antimicrobial therapeutics is emphasized by the emergence of drug-resistant bacterial and fungal pathogens. Transition metal complexes with biologically active ligands have long been investigated for their antimicrobial activity. However, there has been surprisingly little research and experimentation reported in scientific literature regarding potential antimicrobial 1,2,3-triazole complexes with transition metals. This mini-review aims to highlight the current research efforts and emphasize the untapped potential for novel and effective medicinal substances in this field.

Summary: Histidine and cysteine residues play important roles as binding sites for Zn(II), Ni(II), and Fe(II) ions in both peptidic metallophores and antimicrobial peptides. The coordination properties of these residues are influenced by their positions in the sequence. Zinc(II) complexes dominate at physiological pH, while nickel(II) complexes are more stable at alkaline pH. Cysteine residues are better Zn(II)-anchoring sites compared to histidines.

Summary: Gold, silver, and copper small nanoparticles with average size around 2 nm were synthesized and protected with l- and d-cysteine, showing chiroptical activity in the wavelength range of 250-400 nm. The differences between the optical and chiroptical responses of the three metals upon cysteine adsorption are mainly influenced by the metal-ligand interface. These results provide evidence and insights into the transfer mechanisms and induction of extrinsic chirality.

Summary: We report a facile and highly modular access to an intriguing class of free Au-substituted phosphines (AuPhos). Au-substitution can boost the electron-releasing ability of AuPhos, leading to an electronically and sterically tunable, extremely electron-rich phosphorus center. Multi-nuclear transition metal complexes ligated by AuPhos are readily prepared, and preliminary catalytic results show the facilitation of C-N coupling reactions and decarbonylation reactions. This work provides insights for future development of electron-rich ligands.

Summary: Bis[dibenzobismepine], a dibismuthane composed of two bismepine units, was synthesized and characterized. Its reactions with diphenyl dichalcogenides, dibenzoylperoxide, and elemental chalcogens were investigated, and the products were isolated and characterized. The potential of these compounds to act as tridentate chalcogen/olefin ligands with bismuth atoms as structure-determining elements in the backbone was explored using theoretical approaches.

Summary: The PCcarbeneP pincer ligands were slow to develop after their discovery in the early 20th century, but have seen renewed activity in the last 10-15 years, with practical solutions allowing for their application on various metals. These ligands exhibit unique reactivity and diversity, showing the ambiphilic nature of the carbene position.
