Summary: This study evaluated the effect of triamcinolone-impregnated absorbable nasal packing on healing following endoscopic sinus surgery. The results showed no significant difference in healing, crusting, polyps, edema, or secretions between the sinuses treated with triamcinolone and those without. Further studies will be needed to determine the impact of triamcinolone-impregnated absorbable packing following ESS.

Summary: This study analyzed the efficacy of steroid-eluting sinus stents in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps after endoscopic sinus surgery. The results showed that comorbid asthma was the primary risk factor for a poor response to the stents, while blood eosinophil levels were not indicative of the treatment outcome.

Summary: This study developed a novel steroid-eluting stent for endoscopic treatment of subglottic stenosis, demonstrating the application of expansile force on the trachea, elution of steroids, and dissolution mechanism. The results showed a gradual increase in expansile force along the trachea as the PCL stent continues to dissolve, mucosalize, and elute steroids. Further experiments on animal models are needed to observe potential complications and histologic changes.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of bioabsorbable steroid-eluting sinus stents with absorbable Nasopore packs after endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis. Results showed that steroid-eluting stents significantly reduced the need for postoperative surgical intervention and polyp formation compared to Nasopore, and were effective in preventing severe adhesions. Both the stents and Nasopore packs were effective in maintaining ethmoid sinus patency and preventing middle turbinate lateralization. Further prospective cohort studies with long-term outcomes are needed.

Summary: This study investigated the safety and efficacy of corticosteroid-eluting fully covered self-expandable metal stents (FCSEMS) in an animal model and found that they had the potential to reduce fibrotic tissue. Further research is needed to confirm their safety and efficacy in humans with refractory benign biliary strictures (BBS).

Summary: This study compared the perioperative outcomes and morbidity between endoscopic direct access Draf 2a and angled access Draf 2a. The results showed that direct access Draf 2a, or Carolyn's window, removes the limitation of anteroposterior diameter and has comparable outcomes with angled access Draf 2a in terms of frontal sinus patency and surgical morbidities.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of Biomagic rapamycin-eluting bioabsorbable scaffold (BVS) in non-atherosclerotic porcine coronary arteries using quantitative coronary angiography, optical coherence tomography, histomorphometry, and pharmacokinetics. The results showed that Biomagic demonstrated comparable long-term safety to Firebird2 in porcine coronary arteries with mild to moderate inflammation. Although Biomagic was associated with greater percent stenosis relative to Firebird2 within 36 months, expansile remodeling was observed after 12 months in Biomagic with significantly greater lumen area at >= 36 months. Scaffold resorption is considered complete at 36 months.

Summary: This study investigated the association between inferior turbinate volumes and thickness of maxillary sinus mucosal lining. The results showed that an increase in total turbinate volume was associated with an increase in the thickness of maxillary sinus mucosal lining. These findings are important for post-operative follow-up of turbinate and maxillary sinus procedures.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed clinical data from 505 cases of sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM). It found that further stratifying the T3 stage by sinus involvement has a high predictive value for prognosis. Adjuvant radiotherapy can improve survival rates, and immune checkpoint inhibitors show potential benefits for the treatment of recurrent, persistent, or metastatic disease.

Summary: Prolonged use of budesonide irrigations (BI) alone is unlikely to cause hypocortisolemia in most patients. However, concurrent use of inhaled and oral steroids, as well as being male, may be associated with hypocortisolemia. Regular monitoring of cortisol levels is important for vulnerable populations who use BI regularly, particularly in patients using other corticosteroids with known systemic absorption.
