Summary: This study examines the relationship between narcissism and phubbing in China and uncovers specific mechanisms through which different subtypes of narcissism predispose individuals to engage in phubbing behavior. The findings show that vulnerable narcissism is directly associated with more phubbing behavior and indirectly through increased social anxiety, preference for online social interaction, social media use for mood regulation, and compulsive social media use. On the other hand, grandiose narcissism is indirectly associated with less phubbing behavior through reduced social anxiety, preference for online social interaction, social media use for mood regulation, and compulsive social media use.

Summary: Smartphone tools that monitor and control smartphone use were found to be popular among participants, especially among parents monitoring their children's smartphone use. The survey revealed that sleep-related tools were most commonly used, with about 33.1% of participants perceiving them as effective. Problematic smartphone users tended to be younger and more likely to be female. Three user classes were identified: nonusers, effective users, and ineffective users. Nonusers were more likely to use the Android operating system, while younger adults and females were more likely to be effective users. The presence of psychiatric symptoms did not discourage smartphone tool use.

Summary: This study used item response theory to explore the validity and reliability of a scale measuring satisfaction with distance education. The results showed that the scale had some limitations in the multidimensional analysis, and a unidimensional analysis was used instead. The study found that certain items in the scale were less informative while others were more informative. A measurement invariance test based on gender suggested that the scale can be used for gender comparisons.
